We've used a number of the top corded brands Dyson, Hoover, Shark, Electrolux, etc.. We have a medium sized dog and two large cats. So far (2 years), the Shark has outperformed all others we have used. However we wanted something that could be easily used between deep cleans. After reading the reviews, we decided on the Bissell. Powerful, easy to clean, light weight, maneuverable, long battery life and more; checks all the boxes. The power beater roller brush does a fine job of getting out deep dirt and hair and is easily cleaned. No bag no fuse in cleaning the unit. Simply lift off the container, open one end, use the easy slide to remove contents, close it and place it back on machine. The gel type filter is integral to the container and easily slides out. Cleaned by shaking and that is it! You can also use water but so far we haven't found that necessary. Our battery life is 1 – 1 ½ hours for deep carpet and well over 2 hours for solid floors. Our deep cleans are now once a month v. once a week. The unit is really that good. This does not convert to a stick for crevices. However, for that, Bissell has a lightweight hand-held unit with all of the attachments. Same features as the upright. Powerful, easy to clean, light weight, long battery life and more; also checks all the boxes. If you are looking for a fantastic rechargeable vacuum, you will not be disappointed in the Bissell. We just moved into a house with tons of carpet & my canister vacuum was just too much to lug around. This guy is so much easier & faster to use! I can do the whole house in half the time/effort. It’s lightweight, cordless & maneuvers well under/around furniture. It bends almost completely flat for easy reach under beds, couch etc. I also love how easy it is to empty the dust canister- the filter scraper works really well so there isn’t a cloud of dust from shaking it into the garbage. We have cats & it scrapes the cat hair off the filter in one or two sweeps. It doesn’t hold a lot so I for need to empty it once or twice for a full house vacuum. The only cons are that it doesn’t do quite as well on edges, hard floors or stairs as our canister vacuum with attachments- as well as any upright, but especially in the cat litter area & kitchen I need to go around the edges with my hand vacuum to finish the job. Without attachments it also doesn’t work for furniture. That said, I still think this vacuum is a great investment & I am vacuuming much more often bc it’s so fast/easy to use. Highly recommend for majority carpet houses. Oh & my 85yr old mom with mobility issues & arthritis is going to order one since it’s light/easy enough for her to use & small enough to store in her retirement condo. Read more

Initially I had bought a cordless vacuum that was around $100. It was basically a Dustbuster with a handle and attachments. It was okay, but not great for what I wanted it for, which was basically picking up cat litter and essentially replacing sweeping for the most part in my kitchen and laundry room. I returned it and did a little research. Consumer Reports gave this vacuum pretty good reviews. I figured I'd give it a shot. I kinda wanted a Dustbuster too, so I just bought an actual Dustbuster and this vacuum. This vacuum is AMAZING. It is better than my corded upright. I don't have to charge it often. It is easy to empty. BTW, I use my Dustbuster to clean the filter when I empty it. I am beyond thrilled. I wasn't planning on spending so much on a cordless vacuum, but I did want one that worked. This is soooo worth the money. There was mention of it not being the best quality. I try to be careful with it, especially the handle. I have banged it into a few things and it seems to take it okay. I heard the manufacturer will replace the handle, but I went ahead and got the extended warranty just in case there was a problem. I'm actually glad I did. I love this vacuum. I actually enjoy vacuuming now. The light is great. Swivel action is sweet! Goes down quite low to get under things like my bed and baker's rack. Suction is amazing. For real, be careful. Old or damaged carpet could really get messed up. Edge cleaning is dope! And it actually does what I want it for which is getting the cat litter that my cat manages to get on the floor from the mat that is under the litter box. This is one of the BEST things I have ever purchased in my life. I can't recommend it enough. My son came by when I first got this and asked me how it worked. I got a fairly full ashtray and just dumped it on the carpet. I had never used it to clean up a mess like that, but I knew it could do it. It was amazing!!!! Picked up the ashes and the butts. I was flying high on the awesomeness of this vacuum obviously. Tell your friends. You might seriously consider making this your main vacuum. For real. The roller brush comes out, but I don't even bother taking it out. Read more
