Let me just say…I love this vacuum! I searched for months regarding hard floor cleaners and steamers, and what worked best vs. what looked best, and what was most handy. I finally purchased this vacuum based on another review and the fact that the woman said she had a bad back and this vacuum was light weight and the best vacuum she had ever bought. Well, I agree with her. The light weight aspect of this allows me to carry it up my steps, roll it around my home, and take care of business efficiently. The vacuum comes with the extra tools and they are easy to clip on and use. I will say I had my doubts when I received it and I was able lift it with my foot, but I can honestly say all my doubts have been put to rest! No one loves everything about anything, so let me list the cons I have found. They have not stopped my love for this vacuum, but they do exist. Cons- The cord is extremely short, however, I bought a 25 ft. extension cord and the problem is solved. The canister is small, but I personally like this because I have a husband that tends to forget to empty canisters, and the smallness of this ensures he does it more often. The color….LOL. I hate this burnt orange. But who buys a vacuum for the color? I can honestly say that after months of research, I wouldn’t change my purchase for anything else. I have friends and family who have bought the wall hanging ones, have the steamer ones, and have the rechargeable, I can say that no one has ever really loved any of them and that 3 of the people I know have now bought this one and absolutely change it. It does not clean the floors, that is what a mop and bucket are for, but it picks up cat fur, dog fur, sand, powder, and all the small stuff that get tracked in on the daily! Read more

7 year 8 month update: Still works but has lost some of the power that made it special...it is time to shop for a new vacuum. Will be hard to find a more long lasting device with today's manufacturing standards in the toilet. :-/ Four Year Update: This vacuum is still going strong. Still happy with it... GREAT DESIGN with the user in mind! Our home has 95% tile floors and this Bissell 'hard floor expert' is aptly named. With excellent suction, it picks up pieces left by our other vacuums, and does it the first time over the debris. Debris is easy to discard because the cannister design is simple, fast and easy to operate. Light enough to carry in one hand and vacuum with the other, it is easy to use. I prefer this vacuum to our Dyson and Oreck that stay in the closet now that this Bissell is here! Keep in mind that while it cleans our carpeted areas well, we chose this vacuum primarily for tile floors, so, your results may vary. Easy to use, efficient vacuum for our purpose, we recommend it without reservation. Read more

I’ve had this vacuum cleaner for a short while now. After reading some of the reviews and complaints, I can validate some of the shortcomings, but overall I find this to be a very good vacuum for hardwood floors, tile and linoleum. The vacuum I received must’ve been updated since I cannot find a way to validate the complaints others have written about. People complained about the wand falling apart and pieces falling off during cleaning. My cleaner came with what I am assuming are updates. All of the parts to the cleaner click to lock in place. I found this cleaner to have excellent suction, and I cannot validate a suction issue that others have had because apparently previous models had a form of suction control. This one does not. I can validate the power cord is a bit on the short side, but when I compared it to my shark steam mop, the cord is no shorter. I use this for my first floor in my townhouse and I only have to unplug it once midway through cleaning, so I don’t find this a terrible issue with this cleaner. It seems to be fairly sturdy and the wand is metal not plastic, so it does make it a little bit on the slightly heavier side, but definitely more sturdy than plastic. Some have complained that the cord rewind is too quick and hard, but I find it no different than any other cleaners I’ve had that offer an automatic rewind. I have not had any issues with suction. I clean the dust cup after every use, and the cleaner works perfectly every time. This was definitely well worth the money for what I wanted to use it for. The powerhead is suction driven, so it is definitely not for use on carpets. However there is a different Non-powered head that you can use on hard surfaces or low pile carpet such as throw rugs. All in all I think this was a good purchase and it is fulfilling my need. Read more
