I recently added the BLACK+DECKER 12V MAX Cordless Drill/Driver to my toolkit, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my DIY projects! Right out of the box, I was impressed by the build quality. The drill feels solid and well-made, without being too heavy. The 12V MAX battery is a sweet spot, providing ample power for various tasks without being overly bulky. The drill's performance is exceptional. It effortlessly drills through wood, metal, and plastic, making it a versatile choice for a range of projects. The variable speed control is a fantastic feature, allowing me to customize the drilling speed based on the material and task at hand. Plus, the 11-position clutch helps prevent overdriving screws, which is a real lifesaver. The cordless design is incredibly convenient. I no longer have to worry about finding a power outlet or dealing with tangled cords. The battery life is impressive, and I can usually complete several projects on a single charge. Charging the battery is quick and hassle-free, so I never have to wait long to get back to work. The ergonomic grip is comfortable to hold, even during extended use. I appreciate the built-in LED light that illuminates the work area, making it easier to drill accurately, especially in dimly lit spaces. One minor drawback is that the chuck could be a bit tighter when holding smaller drill bits, but it's not a deal-breaker by any means. In conclusion, the BLACK+DECKER 12V MAX Cordless Drill/Driver is an excellent investment for DIY enthusiasts and homeowners. Its reliability, power, and user-friendly features make it a valuable addition to any toolbox. Whether you're assembling furniture, hanging shelves, or tackling more advanced projects, this drill delivers consistent performance and versatility. Read more
gave away my 20 volt B&D cordless drill to my dad so needed a replacement. the price for the 20 volt increased a ton since I bought it, though, so I opted for the 12 volt increased— fully expecting a decrease in power. ultimately i noticed no difference, except that this one is lighter (a definite plus) and has no storage slot for a drill bit like the 20-volt has (meh, not happy about it but whatever) Read more
This is just what I wanted...I have two other cordless drills in the shed that have not only seen better days, but they are really big and in most cases too big for the small jobs I have in mind for them...I decided to get one for the house that will be handy and available for any small to medium jobs that come along..This is a compact drill that holds a charge for a very long time and also performs very well..At 12 volts, it is plenty powerful enough for most of the household jobs that come along...And, it also has the all important variable speed feature for getting just the amount of power and spin you want..It arrived with a bit of a charge in it, but I plugged it in to get it to full power which took just over 2 hours. According to the directions its supposed to be able to hold a charge for over a year which would be wonderful. Nothing more aggravating that reaching for your cordless drill only to find it dead, or near dead. A long lasting charge will be a very welcome plus..One last thing that happens to be a biggie for me, and that is the price. At $25 at the time of this writing its not only the perfect power and size, but price. I'm no professional, and the jobs I have here in mind for a drill from now on don't need all the power and price that many of these carry. This is a very nice drill, compact which is just what I wanted, and is a well known brand for a very reasonable price...Can't ask for more...Very much recommended.. Read more
I had a set of book shelves and wanted to put two short "floating " shelves on one side. I wanted to drill two small "starter" holes where the mounting screws would go and use the drill to actually drive the screws in. But my previous drill bought at Home Depot in 2010 could barely make its drill bits turn at all, much less make a hole or turn a screw. It was a good drill, if a bit bulky. But I used it only two or three times over 12 years and Florida's humidity put it out of its misery. This new drill is less bulky but still not terribly maneuverable. But it did the trick-- after I ordered a set of drill bits. The drill came with nothing to actually drill a hole, just two reversible bits for driving screws. I noticed that the drill would come without drill bits so I ordered what I thought was a reasonable set of drill bits and screw driver bits. But the nice set of bits were only screw driver bits. I now have bits for four kinds of screws. I still had nothing to drill a hole. The drill came the same day I ordered it. (That still amazes me!) I had to wait a few days for the set of bits. Finally I discovered that I still couldn't drill a hole. So I ordered the second set of bits for drilling. They took over a week to arrive. But finally I could and did drill the holes and mount the shelves. My phone and universal remote hub look right at home. My only serious complaint about the drill is that it didn't come with a small set of drill bits. The write-up should say something like "Buy this and wait a week for the drill bits!" :) Read more
