The pros are (1) low cost (2) convenience (3) small size (4) it works fairly well. That being said I wouldn't say this gets a blade extremely sharp. I got a good quality knife to where it would cut paper, but would take some effort to cut and it left a ragged edge. This is plenty sharp enough for touching up a blade while hiking or camping, but hand that blade to a buddy who is "really into knives" (like me) and it doesn't cut the mustard. My final comment is a warning... This has two finger grooves which might tempt someone to hand hold the sharpener when sharpening .... I beg you do not this as it would be very unsafe. For safety set it down on a stable surface and keep fingers away from the stroking knife edge. They should never have put those finger grooves so that you are finishing the sharpening stroke less than a 1/4 inch away from your finger. I'll throw mine in our pop up trailer for camping just in case but it will not be my go to sharpener Read more

I recently had the pleasure of testing the Black Pocket Knife Sharpener, a compact and handy hand-held sharpening tool designed for quick edge maintenance on various blades. As an outdoor enthusiast and home cook, I was excited to put this keychain sharpener through its paces. In this review, I'll share my experiences with its performance, ease of use, and overall value. The Black Pocket Knife Sharpener is constructed from high-quality, durable materials. The ergonomic plastic body fits comfortably in the palm, with a textured grip that prevents slipping during use. A sturdy stainless steel sharpening rod is securely fixed within the housing, ensuring stability and minimizing the risk of accidental damage. The compact size, weighing in at only 1.4 oz, makes it an ideal accessory for carrying on camping trips, in a toolbox, or attached to a keychain for easy access around the house. This sharpener is designed to tackle a range of blades, from pocket knives and chef's knives to kitchen accessories and utensils. The single-stage sharpening rod features a combination of finely grit surfaces (800 and 1200) and a smooth polisher to hone the edge to a razor-sharp finish. I was impressed with its ability to effectively sharpen and refine both straight-edged and serrated blades. On my EDC folding knife, the Black Pocket Knife Sharpener brought the factory-dulled edge back to a keen, slice-through-paper sharpness in mere minutes. The sharpening process is straightforward: simply draw the blade along the rod, maintaining consistent pressure, until you feel the desired level of keenness. The sharpener is incredibly easy to use, with clear visual indicators showing which side of the sharpening rod to use for coarse or fine sharpening. The compact size allows for one-handed operation, making it convenient for sharpening on-the-go. After use, a quick wipe with a cloth is sufficient to clean the tool, ensuring ready access whenever you need it. Given its versatility, compact design, and exceptional performance, I believe the Black Pocket Knife Sharpener offers outstanding value for its price point. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast, a home cook, or simply someone who values a sharp blade, this handy sharpener is an excellent addition to your toolkit. Its ability to quickly restore a keen edge on a wide variety of blades makes it an indispensable accessory that will pay for itself many times over with the convenience and quality it provides. I highly recommend the Black Pocket Knife Sharpener to anyone seeking a reliable, portable, and easy-to-use sharpening solution for their blades. Its compact size, durable construction, and excellent performance make it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts, home cooks, and anyone looking to maintain a collection of well-sharpened knives and tools.
