Worthwhile Addition to the Davinci Resolve Workflow

Tom LOctober 25, 2022

Good fit within the Resolve workflow, adding speed and utility to the editing process. The keyboard has a good tactile feel and the weighted shuttle/jog wheel has a smooth and substantial operative feel. Controls are logically placed for two-handed operation. If you are using the Davinci Resolve Speed Editor be aware it is not exactly a 1-to-1 match. The handy “Split/Move” button is MIA. Split is, of course, a simple keyboard shortcut, while “Move” is not duplicated on the Editor Keyboard at all (at least as far as I’ve been able to determine :-). All keys are labeled with the corresponding “shortcut”. My only gripe is it is, necessarily/understandably, tiny print! So far the construction seems to be robust and it should be mechanically durable. With the inclusion of Davinci Resolve 18 Studio and the added utility of the keyboard, this is a good value (IMHO)! Great keyboard

This is a great keyboard. After using the Speed Editor for 4 years, switching to this keyboard has made using DaVinci Resolve's Cut Page and Edit Page much smoother. Read more

Not Bad

OZ4January 10, 2023

This keyboard does its best to work as an editing keyboard and conventional "typing" keyboard. As an editing keyboard (Da Vinci 18), it takes some getting used to. The online manual for the keyboard is on page 925 of the manual for reference. The keyboard itself is built well with a metal chassis and just about all the editing shortcuts needed to make quick work of post production projects. These are my experiences with the editing keyboard: 1. Ctrl-Alt-Del does function doesn't work; 2. There is a "Home" key but no "End" key; 3. The back space key is the "Delete" key, so no delete key where is would normally reside on a standard keyboard; 4. The "Shift" key on the righthand side of the keyboard is small and takes getting used to if you are also using this as your typing keyboard; 5. The arrow keys are squeezed in next to and under the small shift key area; 6. No backlighting on the keys; 7. The keyboard itself is built well and feels great to the touch; 8. The keys have a nice tactile feel to them and but again, they all feel sort of squeezed in and takes some getting used to; 9. The layout works for this keyboard understanding that compromises needed to be made in order to accommodate the large jog wheels and additional editing function keys which is why I got this keyboard to begin with. Most of these notes echo other reviewers comments so if you are seriously thinking of purchasing this editing keyboard, read all the Amazon reviews, do your homework and understand that you can't have the best of both worlds. This keyboards main function is to make your editing with Da Vinci Resolve easier, efficient, and enjoyable! Read more

Really Well Made . . .

DanielMarch 21, 2022

My first thought was "will it fit into my workflow"? 2 Days in and I think it will improve my flexibility and product turn around time. I really like this keyboard because of the price and I have 4 of the Speed Editors and I use them all of the time. Next to my main machine I wanted to experience the max in keyboard shortcuts. If I get the hang of it I WILL GET Another. Thank you Adorama. And You Get a Studio License of Davinci with it. So I really paid only $200 for the Keayboard. Read more

Excellent build. Just a few negatives .. here they are:

JJuly 28, 2022

Excellent build. I have not regrets buying this keyboard to get the most out editing. The properly-placed and color-coded keys, the dial, easy to read keys, its unquestionable professional build.. There's only two things I don't like as much: (1) You have to be okay with snappy/clanky-loud keys. They are great quality, that's why they have a lot of bounce and snap-back sound to them, but you do have to be okay with it being noisy for others in the room, if you're typing. You might keep a second, quieter, wireless keyboard nearby, if you're going to type a long email or whatever in between editing sessions. I work in my own closed-off office, so the typing noise is not a problem for those around me. But it could be for some. (2) Since it's not wireless, but a wired keyboard, if you have it on a keyboard rollout, and/or it gets moved left/right or in different positions a lot, I had a fear of the very delicate USB-C port wearing out, or the wire snapping off or bending and permanently damaging the port, rendering it the entire keyboard inop. To solve this, I purchased a simple magnetic USB-C mount so it will easily disconnect if any forces are applied. This removed all worry about protecting the port and extends the life of the keyboard for years I'm thinking. Also I attached velcro to the wire to keep it held at 90-degrees to the port - to follow the L-shape of the adapter. Now the keyboard and wiring behind it fit nicely on the keyboard rollout. I recommend doing this --- unless you're going to keep the keyboard in a stationary, such as in a hole cutout in a specially-designed editing desk, or whatever, where it won't move. Read more

Returned after one day

Jeremy ScottOctober 21, 2024

It is missing keys I would expect it to have that you can find on the seperate speed editor. Specifically, and surprisingly, there is no "split" key which I use all the time. Also the quality of the keys on the keyboard is pretty bad for something at this price point. I will be sticking with my daskeyboard and speed editor combo. Read more

Absolutely Worth It

cloudyMarch 3, 2020

I was like most concerned about spending this much for a keyboard. But since I know how to type a good keyboard is important to me. So beyond the support for Davinci Resolve I'm pleased to say that this is just a really great keyboard. Now of course the main reason for buying it is to use it with Davinci Resolve and this is where it becomes a real beast. The jogwheel with the magnetic feedback it gives as you jog over footage and quickly assemble is really helpful. I've bought a lot of equipment to support shooting video and photography. This keyboard I use every day. Read more
