LOVE LOVE LOVE these, they worked out better than I could have hoped.
Have you ever had a pair of shoes that with the first time you put them on not only can you tell they are meant to be, but you can't imagine a time when you didn't have them? That's how these are for me. I have been stuck in frumpy mom mode for too long and it's rare that I justify buying a pair of shoes just for fun. I work from home and don't "need" nice shoes for anything, so my shoes normally consist of my Brooks running shoes or flip-flops. I've been eyeballing these shoes, which I originally saw on Zappos, and I kept talking myself out of buying them because they're too unpractical, I shouldn't spend the money, I don't *need* them, etc. Enter Facebook's creepy stalkerish tendencies. Every time I went on Facebook it would mysteriously show me an ad for these exact boots, in the gray color that I'd looked at, over and over. Apparently their advertising algorithm is effective, because after seeing them a few more times I decided "Why not?" Originally ordered them from Zappos, realized there was NO WAY they were going to arrive in time for my date night with my husband, which is the reason I ordered them in the first place, and then I realized I could get the same boots on Amazon - cancelled the Zappos order, ordered through Amazon, BOOM, they were on my front porch the next day like magic. And then..... I proceeded to not try them on because even though I ordered them from my laptop in my jammies from the comfort of my own home, apparently walking downstairs and opening that box was sooo much work. Also I was really anxious that they were NOT going to fit or they'd be uncomfortable or look stupid on me and I'd have to send them back. Did I mention I don't usually spend this kind of money on shoes? Also, I have big feet, so it's hard for me to find my size in "normal" stores. I normally buy 11s, except for my running shoes, which I buy a size up. Still sometimes when I order 11s they're too snug on me also. I ordered these in an 11W and was concerned that with socks they'd be too tight. I procrastinated until it was 10 minutes past the time I was supposed to be out the door for my date night, tried them on, zipped them up (P.S., LOVE the fact that they have zippers on both sides, something I didn't notice when I ordered). HEAVEN. I wore them with pretty thinnish low-cut socks but I needn't have worried, I could have worn them with something thicker and there would have been plenty of wiggle room. In fact, there was enough wiggle room that I'm thinking these might run a tiny bit on the big side? Either way, not only did they look great and give me a much-needed confidence boost, but they were super comfy. We had to do pretty much walking, including up and down stairs, and there was nothing pinching or rubbing in weird places or no "I can't wait to get out of these shoes" moment when I got home. I was kind of sad to take them off and look forward to wearing them again. I am wondering about the "waterproof" part of the title - I'll have to read about it and see if they are truly waterproof or if you're supposed to add something to protect them. I cannot state strongly enough how much I adore these boots so far and I am going to be SUPER bummed if they get messed up by wearing them in the rain. Oh, and I no longer feel even a teensy bit guilty for having spent the money on these, and do you know why? I can tell these boots are very well made, so I expect them to last a long time. I don't have a picture to post right now, but I wore them with skinny jeans and a hockey jersey (Go Blues!), but I think they would also work great with a dressier outfit. Hmm, now I'm wondering if I should check out these boots in other colors... too soon? Read more
