The media could not be loaded. Blue Bottle’s Whole Bean Organic Espresso is easily one of the best dark roasts I’ve ever tried. The beans are fresh, aromatic, and brew a smooth, rich shot with no bitterness. I use it with our Breville espresso machine, and it never disappoints. This Blue Bottle dark roast espresso is outstanding! The beans are fresh and aromatic right out of the bag. Once ground and brewed, they deliver a deep, rich flavor with smooth chocolatey notes and zero bitterness. It makes an excellent shot of espresso and also holds up beautifully in lattes or cappuccinos. I also appreciate that it's organic and ethically sourced — it makes the coffee experience feel even better. If you love strong, smooth espresso, this is absolutely worth the price. Read more
I received these literally less than an hour ago and immediately ground some up! They are now in my top 3 for espresso! It had an excellent flavor profile! It actually had a fairly sweet flavor to it and was a nice syrupy style! If you prefer sweetness, go with these! There wasn’t much bitterness to it at all. The beans were super fresh! Read more
Really enjoyed the bright, clean flavor of this light roast — the beans smell amazing and the coffee comes out smooth with no bitterness. It’s definitely high-quality and tastes fresher than most store brands. The only downside is the price for a 12-ounce bag; it feels a little expensive for everyday use. Overall, a very good coffee if you appreciate a lighter, more delicate roast. Read more

I live in the middle of nowhere so the only kind of not ground espresso I can buy locally is the green mermaid kind. I decided to try this after hearing there were cockroaches in the green bag and ohmygoodness I will never go back. It’s delicious. This is how I want my espresso to taste. Read more
I recently received my first online order—a 6-pack of Bright, with “tasting notes of blueberry, golden raisin, and lemon zest”. As someone who has enjoyed many of your espressos in New York, I was truly excited to bring that same experience home. However, I was quite disappointed with what I received. The package arrived on 7/19/25, and I noticed the expiration date is listed as 9/28/25. This raised some concerns, as I had expected freshly roasted beans, especially given Blue Bottle’s reputation for quality and freshness. Unfortunately, the coffee I received lacks the brightness and flavor profile I’ve come to associate with your brand—it tastes dull and flat, with no noticeable aroma, acidity, or complexity. I’m returning the entire order, as it does not reflect the standard I’ve experienced at your cafés.
