I am reviewing BMJL High Waisted Shorts with Side Pockets 2.5" Gym Shorts for Women Breathable Running Workout Shorts I love these shorts, but they run a bit small. Consider ordering one size larger than your normal. I normally wear size 8-10 and these fit tight in the waist. The waistband is wide and made of a stylish elastic with an open design at the top. It is very stretchy, but rebounds tightly. This makes the hips of the fabric bulge more than I believe they would if the elastic was more loose (or my hips were less bulgy) Otherwise, I really love the design. It has the raised side, reminiscent of the 1980s. It flutters lightly. The pockets are deep and roomy, and they hang between the outer fabric and the inner panty lining. The invisible zipper is not wide, but most phones can be slipped in, then zip it up for safety. The fabric is super lightweight. The inner panty gives the secure coverage and feeling of modesty, while the outer fabric is fluttery. The saddle seam in the back adds an extra level of style, and I feel like it is a more flattering look than without it. The fabric launders easily and comes out of sitting in the dryer overnight with only a few wrinkles. The inner panty has no bulky seams, all stitching is straight and neat, and the crotch is lined. Cotton is not used on the crotch. The quality overall is excellent for the price of less than $18. These shorts are very short, and high waisted. They could possibly be used as swim shorts. The fabric is light, but is not see-through, and feels sturdy for light duty activities. 100% recommend, just order up a size. Read more
I ordered these cute, sporty, blue polyester/spandex shorts in a size small for my daughter. She's 5’5”, 125 lbs and usually true to size, but these run snug — especially at the waistband (elastic only, no drawstring). These have a high waistband that is stretchy and offers some tummy control, but she says it isn't comfortable for all day wear. The material is smooth, lightweight but not see through, and is quick drying. Care instructions say hand wash with like colors, and dry on low heat or hang to dry. My daughter likes the 2 front zipper pockets and the built-in liner for workouts. However, they are definitely short when bending over, and the liner fits more like a bikini bottom than a boy short, so it doesn’t fully cover the butt. She's on the smaller side in the hips/glutes and they’re still tight, so anyone fuller there may find these uncomfortable. Sizing up might help the liner and waist fit better, but the outer shorts could be loose. Overall, cute and functional — just runs small and short for a typical size small. Read more
Really liked the fit of these workout shorts. The material is silky and feels great when I wear them. They’re just the right length, and the pockets are a good size to hold a few things. The pink color is very vivid and looks great. I usually wear a size 12–14 in jeans, and I got the XL in these shorts. They’re a bit roomy, but in a comfortable way rather than feeling like they might fall off. For the current price of $15, they’re a really good deal. Read more
Although I’ve been mostly a couch potato the past few years, I have high hopes that I’ll get myself in gear and start exercising for real soon. In preparation for starting aerobics classes, I’ve been trying to acquire comfortable and cool workout clothing. These shorts seemed to fit the bill and in person, I like them a lot. I got the basic black color, which goes with everything. My regular XL size fit fine; at 5’7”, the shorts are fairly short (these aren’t mid-length shorts), but they have good coverage for the rear end, so they’re perfect for working out. I really like the two deep zippered pockets, high-quality elastic waist and very nice lining. The material is 90% polyester and 10% spandex; it’s very stretchy, smooth and lightweight, so perfect for working out in. Basically, these shorts exactly fit the bill for what I need to motivate myself to sweat and they’re a really good value too. The one downside to these shorts is that they need to be handwashed, but otherwise I like them so much that I’m still giving them 5 stars. Read more
I was hoping for another fun pair of summer shorts. These were not it. I ordered my standard size, an XL and when they arrived, I was immediately worried. These are supposed to be running shorts but the liners did not feel soft or comforting. The seaming along them read "gonna irritate your legs like crazy." The waistline read "gonna pinch". I read them both correctly. So, I should've sized up. They are too small for the size they advertise. The pockets were there, but I can see the inevitable phone hanging below the hem situation happen immediately. They are very lightweight, but not really a breathable material in my eyes. When I put them on, the waistline dug into my stomach and the edge of the elastic immediately started rubbing against it. The liners were already digging into my legs and spaces between. We're not even going to discuss how bad I looked in them. It was bad. The only thing they had going for them was the color was exactly like the description photo. I'm not the smallest and fittest of women, but I can wear a variety of workout clothes and lined shorts with no issue. These are not one of those types of shorts. I expect someone with a smaller, more contained physique would look great in them....but it was not me or my body type. Read more
This would have been a 5 star product for me (quality, style, price, fabric) but the fit through the waist is snug and binding. I wear a size 6-8 and the shorts fit comfortably in all areas except the waist. They technically “fit” because the waistband is stretchy, but the snug compression leaves me thinking too much about the shorts instead of focusing on my workout. I have worn clothing from this brand before with positive experience and this is the first time I feel that the fit is off. Read more
