Love these swim bottoms! I'm thick in the hips and glutes area. I'm on the smaller side of 16, more of a pear shape. These shorts made me feel confident and comfortable. Very flattering. I think they look better if you have some junk in your trunk. They fit great and the adjustable ties on the side are perfect! They came up high enough in the waist to minimize my fupa. UPDATE: they've held up very well. I love them! I am 5'3" and usually hover between 130 and 140 lbs. About a 27" waist. I decided to try these in a size SMALL even though I often need a medium in bottoms... BUT the size small in these fit me like a glove! Not too tight in the waist all *they are made to be worn high* at your natural waist line. I love the sides drawn and tied all the way up high! I'll try to remember and add a photo later. This is great for what I wanted them for which is just something basic to throw on in the pool with a black bikini top. I prefer to buy the top size custom with under wire support in these little shorts work well for pairing with a preferred top of your choosing. I liked it the strings give you adjustable modesty options. I’m not going to lie. I crank up the sides when the boyfriend comes over. Fabric thickness and durability is great and I like the fit. They held up well to my home inground pool for the summer. I do think a gym pool or community pool with high chlorine would probably chew these up much faster but that’s true of every bathing suit I found in the past. This is a good suit and I really like it. I wish there were tops that were optional to buy separate separately, but that doesn’t diminish from the fact that this was a good purchase. I do wish they came in a few more colors, but other than that I’m comfortable with the fit, the fabric, the design and the reasonable price. I would recommend these. First impression... I LOVE them! They fit perfectly! Not too tight to where they're digging in but they feel secure and are not baggy . Based on the rise of my jean shorts I'd say these have a solod 12" rise and hit perfectly above the bellybutton. The sides adjust and flatter the bum! I haven't worn them in the water yet but I'll update if they're not up to par. For reference: ordered xl waist: 35in. Hip: 44in. Usually wear a size L or xl. After wearing these in the water the first time I'm returning. They don't have any kind of liner so they got weird and clung and got super saggy in all the wrong places.
