I look at a computer screen for 8 - 10 hours a day, so my eyes are usually very tired at the end of the day. I also have maturing skin and dark circles under my eyes. These steam eye masks are the perfect treat to help me relax. Once you open the package, the mask starts to heat up slowly. It takes about 5 minutes to for it to heat to the peak temp, which is a nice gentle heat. The mask stays hot for about 30 minutes before it starts to cool down. The lavender scent is barely noticeable, which is great for me since I am sensitive to scents. Calling these steam masks is a bit of a misnomer. The masks don't actually steam, but the heat does produce a moist environment under the mask. The heat can also enhance under eye creams and help products absorb into the skin. I like to put in a thick layer of eye cream before putting the mask on. I've been doing this every evening... I turn on some ocean sounds or whit noise, cuddle up under my fuzzy blanket in the recliner and just chill out with these masks work their magic. After about half an hour, my eyes are much more comfortable, my skin is hydrated and I'm ready to wind down for the night. The 12-pack is plenty of masks for treating myself, but I will also be giving these at a Favorite Things holiday party. They will also be good for stocking and advent calendar treats. These are basically like two hand warmers in an eye mask form. The straps that go around the ears are comfortable, they did not irritate me at all. They are stretchy and soft. They do heat up instantly and get pretty warm which is great except I could not really feel the warmth unless I pressed them against my eyes with my hands. The mask is not contoured, so it just go straight across leaving a gap at the eyes. I ended up just holding it against my eyes for a while. It did create moisture/steam with me holding it against my eyes, I am not sure if that would have happened if I did not press on the eyes part. The sizing wasn't too bad, I have smaller head and small ears and the loops were a little loose on me. I tried to pull them and tie them together behind my head for a more snug fit, but the one snapped off. But again, since I was holding it to my eyes with my hands it did not really matter. They are individually packaged so they would be easy to travel with and also good for gifting/party favors. The warmth and steam were relaxing, so I did enjoy using the eye mask. As for lavendar, I did not smell anything at all on them. I was hoping for a lavendar scent as I think it would have made the relaxation experience even better. All in all, I feel like I could have just held two hand warmers to my eyes and got the same experience. If they can somehow improve these to be contoured to where they touch closer to the actual eye, that would really make a big difference. Read more
