I don't often write reviews, least of all for pencil sharpeners (of which I can recall having purchased only one other), but I feel confident--and, indeed, compelled by my confidence--to declare to the world: THIS IS THE BEST MANUAL PENCIL SHARPENER EVER CREATED. It does what you expect (i.e., sharpen your pencil); it does it very well (i.e., makes it sharp without breaking the lead or chipping the wood); and it is compact, ergonomical, and attractive besides. Don't spend another moment deliberating--this is the one. Read more

What an unexpected surprise find! This product is such an incredible improvement over pencil sharpeners of my past. It is self contained and keeps the shavings nicely stored within its casing. No more sharpening pencils over a garbage pail. Emptying the shavings is simple and mess-free. An extra feature of this tool is a dual position switch that allows you to choose the sharpness of the point. It came set in the sharpest point position and it does produce very sharp pencil points. I now want to order more and put them in every drawer or container that pencils are stored. Definitely worth a few more Penny’s for all the conveniences this simple tool provides. Read more

Best pencil sharpener for color pencils I ever got or used. I bought this to sharpen my very expensive color pencil set. I use when I do my coloring. I like the I can get my tips to a sharp point or I can have a blunt point. The ratchet sharpener is very fast at getting my pencils sharpened, but I don't use it that way often. I actually just twist my pencils one direction a few times and they are good to go.. it holds a lot of shavings I was surprised by that. actually I figured I would have to be dumping it every time I used it, but come to find out that is not the case at all. I hardly ever dump it. It takes me quite a few sharpenings before I realize that I need to dump it. then some shavings get stuck, but I expect that to happen with these type of sharpeners. Over all I like it. I got the blue one it's a pretty blue too. I choose to have a random color sent for just under $2.00 yes that is right just under two dollars I got a pencil sharpener that is well worth! it blew me away. I was not expecting much of this sharpener for the price of it. But it's a great one I will definitely be getting another one for my regular pencils, and for the kids to use at school! This sharpener works like a charm, and for the cost it can't be beat. Go ahead and get it because you will not regret it! Read more

This Bostitch Twist-n-Sharp sharpener works perfectly for both regular and colored pencils. It’s compact and easy for kids to use, with a twist design that makes sharpening safe and mess-free. The blade gives a nice, even point without breaking softer colored pencils, and the shavings are contained neatly inside. Read more

This thing is great and is very easy to use. It creates a sharp point it a slightly blunt point-you get to decide which one by turning a dial. Perfect for colored pencils. No breakage so far! Read more

Sharpens very well for such a cheap device. I've tried many others and been frustrated with how poorly they sharpen. This is a keeper! Read more

I wanted a sharpener that would give a longer shaving exposing more of the lead. I don't like the short sharp points most sharpeners give. This works great! Read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see that it does a good job of sharpening my colored pencils. I'm used to an electric pencil sharpener which seems so simple to use but, unfortunately, is more complicated than it looks. I don't seem to have any control over the electric sharpener. I guess that I just never learned how to use it. I put the pencil in, wait, and it may or may not sharpen (and may or may not eat my pencil to a stub). That's why I wanted to replace it, and this product was reasonably priced. This thing, I can fully control. I can just keep turning the pencil until it's sharpened. No drama. No tricks. No problems. It works well, and I like it better than the electric sharpener. That said, it isn't all that great. The negative aspects of this pencil sharpener are that, first of all, it takes a relatively long time to work. Eventually, my pencils were sharpened. But I kept turning, pausing, checking, turning, pausing, and checking...before they were sharp enough. Secondly, the point is fairly short. It won't last long before it needs to be sharpened again. Thirdly, I seriously had to watch an instructional video on YouTube to figure out how to open the pencil sharpener so that I could clean it out. The plastic on the side opens. But you'd never figure that out by tugging it. I needed to use a flat-edge screwdriver. And that wasn't only the first time. I thought, once I had it opened that first time, I'd be able to just remove the side cover without using a tool afterwards. But no. It fits too snugly to be able to remove it by hand, and I'm not about to sacrifice my fingernails, either. I'd call that a design flaw. Your mileage may vary, though. Perhaps my sharpener was a lemon. All in all, I feel as if I got my money's worth. I don't suggest you steer clear of this. But it is a nuisance to deal with it, and be careful if you do have to use a sharp object to remove the plastic case. Read more
