This device for mounting a phone In the car seems well designed, and pretty sturdy. It provides 2 quite different means of attachment to the dash area of the car. The first method a suction mount. This will require quite a smooth surface to attach to. And the surface will need to be fairly flat, though a gently curved windshield can work. If you want to attach to a fairly flat, but textured dash surface, the kit provides a 3M Dashboard Pad, which you adhere permanently to your dash, and then removably attach the suction cup to the pad. With another (not included pad, or another smooth surface in a different vehicle, it will be easy to move the mount from one to another. Being able to do this in a rental car is one of the best features of this mount. The second attachment method is to an AC vent. There is a separate piece that has an extendible hook to reach in a hook behind the vane of one of the vents. This doesn’t work on all vents, for example the Toyota Tundra has vanes that are too deep for the hook. It could attach to the dashtop side-defrost vents, but then it stands up in a way that won’t work for angling the phone to see it well. However, many vehicle vents will work with this hook, and it is a better solution the push-on vent magnets I have used in the past. The description describes it as for Tesla. The back of Tesla display is smooth enough to use the suction cup there. The vent mount will not fit the dash air vents in a Tesla Y, but it get a grip on bodywork gap below the vent (see photo), but when used on the vent attachment, it won't quite adjust to the optimal angle for a tall driver like myself, though it is visible. I don's see this mount as especially Tesla-oriented. It will work just as well in a wide range of vehicles. Whichever way it attaches, the mount provides a lot of flexibility in positioning the phone. It can extend (though doing so will make it more susceptible to vibration), tilt on a hinge, or be oriented over quite a range in all dimensions and rotated on a ball joint. When it is not extended, the mount is pretty solid. The hinge might loosen up in time, but might not; it is firm now. The phone attachment to the mount is versatile for different sized phones, and easy to use with one hand, both attaching the phone and removing it. The downsides I see in this mount are that it reqires a smooth surface like the windshield or display to mount securely, and that it is a little visually bulky (but when the phone is in place this is largely hidden). The upsides are good design and build, unusual versatility, and easy attachment of, adjustment to, and removal of phones. Read more

This should work on most vehicles, I had no problem using it in my Ford work truck. The main reason I wanted this kit is for the arm. Its a unique design that looks much sturdier than the previous ones I have used. Since using it I have to say I really do like it. Its a bit weird getting used to the way the arm adjusts on this VS a standard windshield arm. It installs pretty much the same (although it locks differently), you just have to be mindful of where the actual phone holder will sit. The pad on it seems as sticky as any other arm I have used. As for the phone holder, the good thing is it (and the arm) use the standard ball in socket fitting which is universal at this point making this much more adaptable. Another good thing is they put a lot of rubber on this, it helps to keep the phone in place and not damage it. Functionally there are no issues with this, it works as intended. My one gripe with this kit is value. Granted the arm is great and the phone holder technically works, you can get a better phone holder for the same price. The arm it comes with wont be as good (on a different kit), but the phone holder will be more feature rich and have better build quality. You can get ones that are auto-clamping and wireless chargers. You also have mag-safe becoming the norm as well. If this is the type of phone holder you want, by all means buy it, you wont be disappointed, just know there are better ones out there (in my opinion). Read more

This Bracketron phone holder addressed an ongoing issue with the previous magnetic holder used in an F-150. The magnets in the original holder were not strong enough, and the phone would frequently fall off, especially when hitting a large bump. The first attempt involved using the preferred vent mounting method. This option held the phone firmly in place, but it posed another problem—the holder and phone interfered with the transmission stalk in drive, regardless of how high or low the mount was positioned (see photo). Switching to the suction cup mount resolved the interference issue. There is a flat area next to the fan speed knob that provides an ideal vertical surface for the suction cup, well below the transmission stalk. The suction cup features a sticky surface which, along with the vacuum created when engaging the lever, has kept the mount securely in place, even when driving over bumps or during hot weather. To secure the phone, simply press it into the holder, which activates two fingers that grip the device securely. When it’s time to remove the phone, pressing the lever on the side opens the fingers, allowing for easy removal. When attaching the holder to the mount, it’s important to use caution while screwing on the nut. It is easy to cross-thread, which could potentially damage the mounting mechanism. It is important to note that this product serves solely as a phone mount and does not provide any charging capabilities. However, since it is not advertised as a charger, this does not detract from its overall rating. Overall, this Bracketron mount offers an affordable and effective solution for securely holding a phone in place within the vehicle. Read more

Didn’t expect to use this in the laundry room, but it’s been fantastic. Sticks securely and holds my phone at the perfect angle for videos or video calls while ironing. Simple, stable, and makes boring chores way more tolerable. Read more
