So far this is the best foil shaver since my old series 7 i had for over 8 years using the old 70s heads that are hard to find. Its battery finally quit and i got a series 6 and then 7 of the newer style they have now. Both of those were major downgrades. This series 8 shaves as good, or better than that old series 7 and is rubberized on the back which makes grip better than the old 7. I like the included charging stand. If you're trying to decide between thos and current series 7 offerings the 7 is less powerful and the 360 head makes it cut weird and horribly on my neck and around my ears, whereas the 8 here hits both in a few glides on each side to ensure coverage. I compared both with new heads and the 8 wins hands down. Its louder than the 7, but not by enough to matter. And I've now had this a month, literally charged it the night after i got it and haven't needed to since, and i shave daily, this shaver is so effective and efficient that i literally get done in a few passes over my face, it barely uses any battery per shave. 1 month and 5 days from daye of receiving abd intial cgarging at my house and it finally needed another charge. That's awesome, if i can go about a month on each charge cycle this razor will last a long time. Its still cutting really well and shaving great as well. Still highly recommending this line over brauns current series 5/6/7 offerings. You get far better performance and functionality, better battery life and they feel built better. I had a 7075cc i upgraded from, the 360 swivel head is just a useless gimmick that, in my opinion actually made its performance worse than old series 7 i had that finally bit the dust. Plus the new series 5/6/7 heads are thin and clog with hairs very quickly, don't wash easily and aren't easily snapped on and off compared to the series 8. If you're trying to decide on spending a bit more, get the 8 and spend more its worth it. Better shave, extremely longer battery life, better features on the shaver, and just overall a far better bang for the money. Only thing is the 83m heads these use are $60ish each to buy replacements for, but i can live with that for the performance they provide me. Read more
Bought this shaver to replace my old series 5. This shaver is lighter & does a better job than my old Braun. I have been using an electric since the mid '70s, since I went into the armed forces (you had to shave every day). My face couldn't take a Trac II everyday so I went to a foil shaver (on sale in the PX). I tried Norelco, but that shaver irritates my face after a while. Have always had Braun, the heads always gave me a clean shave, guys were surprised of the close shave I got from my Brauns. Electric shavers didn't have a close shave reputation back then. I'm 71 & this is my 3rd one. I think the Braun shaver is getting better. I liked the plastic shell of the old shaver model better, took a beating, protected the shaver in travel. Have to wait & see with this new style travel case. Nowhere to carry a cleaning brush. The shaver is quiet compared compared to my old shaver. Braun's battery life & recharging life has always been very good. I've always found Braun comfortable to hold in various ways when shaving. Blades last me a year, sometimes more. Price is on par with others make of shavers. I've had 3 in just over 25 years. Read more
This is an excellent shaver. Having purchased the series 7 twice before, I can clearly say that the series 8 is a far better decision. If you are thinking of the series 7, skip it for the series 8 which does a far better job as a shaver. Slightly more pricy, shaving is far more efficient and at a lower price than the flagship series 9. Many reviews seem to concur with this. Great shave, excellent battery life and included moustache trimmer. My single biggest gripe is no usb charging. It is absurd that such sophisticated shavers still require a dedicated proprietary charger. This means carrying another charger when travelling. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a great shaver with good price. Read more
I've used Norelco rotary shavers for decades and was always happy with them. However, as the blades wore out, I could no longer find quality replacements—even from Norelco. I tried their latest rotary model, but its oddly shaped head was difficult to use and incapable of providing a comfortable, close shave. I decided to try a foil shaver and ordered this Series 8. The difference is astounding! The shave is super close, fast, and comfortable. It’s also easy to clean, and the replacement blades cost about half as much as rotary ones while offering the same quality. I even ordered a couple of extra blades to have on standby, though I may not need them for a year or more. This shaver is a bit noisier than the rotary, but the quick, ultra-close shave easily makes up for the extra sound. After 10 uses, the battery still shows nearly full. An excellent shaver! Read more
If could give this product a 10 I would. I owned a 5 for about a decade and really liked it. But the 8 shaves even closer and it’s a smoother finish on the shaver. I have sensitive skin and it gets irritated easily and I have no problem with this shaver. It’s lighter than my 5 was too. It’s quiet and doesn’t pull hair which the 5 did occasionally. I figure it should be at least as durable as the 5 was. Which by the way is still working. I just am finding it difficult to get new heads. Read more
Long battery life between charges. The razor does a really thorough job of capturing the stubble and although not as close as a blade it does not nick or scrape. Read more
An excellent shaver. I had a Series 5 for about 18 months and this Series 8 is FAR superior. No 'shedding', where trimmed whisker dust falls out on the sink or your clothes. No problem shaving under my nose. More than to weeks on a single charge. Read more
