I have really been enjoying this coffee machine. I previously had the Breville YouBrew, which I loved, but it was about 10 years old and even with regular maintenance, I figured the insides were probably pretty gross by now. I would have gotten something similar for simplicity, but Breville seems to be moving away from the all-in-one grind and brew machines. So I went for a separate grinder and brewer. It is still very easy to make coffee every morning. (My Breville Smart Grinder Pro is a dream.) The machine is fast and pretty quiet. So far I've just gone with the default brew settings and the coffee is great. I may try tweaking some of the settings in the future for different beans or roast levels, but I haven't found a need to do that yet. I've even tried the cold brew at the shortest setting (30 minutes) because I am impatient, and it was very smooth. I will do a longer cold brew when I have time. (As far as I understand, the cold brew is a concentrate and should be diluted - I would have liked some instructions for this.) Common complaints I see in reviews: some say it's noisy, but I disagree. Might depend on what machine people had before and are used to. Lack of instructions: valid complaint. There is a manual you can download online; I don't know why Breville does not include it in the box. They really should. The quick guides with pictures can be a bit confusing, but just look up the manual online and print it out if you want. (Or maybe ask Breville to send you one!) Hard to use: I don't get this complaint. It couldn't be easier. Unless you are tweaking settings every time, it is literally one button push to turn it on, and one button push to start brewing after you add the water and coffee grounds. I have the thermal carafe because I didn't want glass with kids around, and I don't like baked coffee. The thermal keeps my coffee warm for 3 hours, which is plenty of time for me to finish the amount that I make. (There is a count-up timer when brewing is finished, so you know long the coffee has been there. This is great!) If I preheated the carafe, it would probably stay hotter even longer, but as my previous thermal carafe did not keep coffee hot very long at all, I'm really happy with this. Daily cleanup is pretty easy too. I do wish the carafe lid came apart for more thorough cleaning, but then it probably wouldn't keep heat in as well, so we will see how that goes. I also sometimes brew directly into my Hydroflask tumbler. I could not find measurements ahead of time, so I was relieved to see that this worked. (My tumbler is 7 and 5/8 inches tall and just fits.) I am probably drinking more coffee than I should now, just because it is so good and stays hot long enough. I need to go back to my previous amount, but I am really glad I got this machine and I'm very happy with the features, ease of use and cleaning, and most importantly - the coffee that it makes. I also happen to think it looks really nice. Read more

Very seldom do I review items that do not do their job very well. But this item does it's job so poorly I felt I must considering the amount of money you pay to own this coffee maker. I bought the coffee maker because I wanted a unit that had a carafe instead of a warming plate (cooking the coffee continually after it was made). That was the only reason I paid the amount of money I did considering they said it would keep coffee hot for 4 hours after it was made. It will not keep coffee hot for an hour. I first adjusted the brewing temperature as high as it would go to see if that would help - it did not. I then started prewarming the carafe before brewing the coffee to see if that would help and it did not. I then started warming the milk before making the coffee and that did not help so I returned the unit. And, with all the features it had to make excellent coffee in my opinion it only made average coffee. I ended up purchasing a unit that does all of the things above but does not have the carafe and makes excellent coffee. That unit cost one fifth the price of this one. Read more

update 1 week after receipt: machine is only making 4 cups when we want 6 cups. Warmer won't come on and the coffee stops. Submitted support request. High quality product as usual from Breville; takes a little time to set it up and get familiar with how it works - recommend looking up the video in youtube created by Breville for more information and demo. System senses how much water and what is needed so very easy; but also customizable. Will see how long it lasts but overall very pleased. Read more

I have had the same Breville, but their older model for 6 years and just bought this for a couple of updated features. It was easy for me to learn it due to having the previous model, but I can see where some people may struggle with the menu system. Why it got 4 stars: The first one I received had to be returned because about 1/3 of the time it did not brew the full pot of water. It would stop part way through and I would have to start it again. Each brew cycle takes about 5 minutes. I do not pour a cup with what is in the pot since the ratios will be off with only half the water, so that's a long time to wait to get a cup of coffee. I requested a return and replacement - that went very well! (Thank you seller La Sur Table!) The new pot is much better, but it has stopped part way through once in the last couple of weeks since I got it. I'm paying close attention in case I need to return this one while it's within the return window. Brews an amazing pot of coffee, some of the menu features are actually redundant and a step back from the previous model. Read more

Context: We drink coffee daily, usually two pots. I'm pretty causal about most things in life, but I do like a good cup of coffee. This machine absolutely delivers. Wish we had bought it years ago. Pros: - Customization; we set a specific bloom time, water temp, etc. Absolutely wonderful. - Taste - Water Tank; can be removed to fill up; VERY nice feature. - Carafe keep coffee hot all day. It's ridiculous! - Looks nice. Cons: - My ONLY complaint with this machine is that the Carafe lid does seem to trap water/coffee somewhere inside. With some shaking, it does come out. Overall: If you really enjoy a good cup of coffee in your life, this machine is worth every penny. Read more

I researched every drip coffee maker similar to the mocca master and only 10 cups. I was happy to find that Breville was 12 cups or at least said it was. Very disappointing that it only brews 10 even though we fill the tank to 12. There is always water left in the tank after every brew. The instructions don’t offer much information as well. Read more

I like that it has a separate water tank, filter basket, and carafe which I anticipate will make cleaning simpler than other coffee makers. If there is air trapped by the filter, it will be very loud for the first brew cycle. Remove the filter if you have good water and it is very quiet. Read more
