Wish it was whiter in color, but "Artic White" is the whitest they make. It still is noticeably whiter than what's being sold as "Bright White". Installed in my re-tiled shower to be used as a soap dish - looks good! Note: This style bathroom shelf is attached directly to the tile backing material, using the same mortar as the tile. Not for the uninitiated.

Not for the easily intimidated. Our rental shower had one of these installed when we had the old cast-iron tub removed and a tile shower built. That was some years back. The bottom one of these simply cracked and fell out with not help from anyone. I've heard that is pretty common. I've done a bit of tile work and have a wet tile cutter in the garage. replacement of one of these is not as simple as buying a replacement and pressing it into place. It was necessary to take the old tiles out and cut new ones. The shelf says only for NEW installation. Took me lots of trips up and down the stairs, cutting new tiles to fit around the "Lug" that is inset from the top, bottom and front edges by about 1/4 inch. In my case that lug was slightly larger than the one on the piece that came out so it was new tiles, new cuts and LOTS of thinset. In the end, it came out pretty well. Maybe not my best work but it looks good. Grouted it in a couple hours (the quick set up thinset), let the grout set overnight, wiped it all down and sealed the grout in the morning. Fingers crossed. 1st one fell off the thinset and broke the second one. The replacement was ok, these are HOLLOW ceramic shelves and are VERY BRITTLE. Once set I think they're fine, but daltile makes much better quality shelves. Read more
