My teenager wore these to a 5+ hour ball. They went well with his tux and were comfortable all night, even for dancing. The toe is square, but not too square—just enough for comfort and ease of stepping. He liked the style and the comfort. And they were shiny enough for a formal event, but could be worn with regular church clothes. Very functional. Are you going to wear them a few times a year for a few hours each? Are you looking for a decent-looking shoe at a reasonable price? This will do perfectly fine. If you're looking for something to wear to work daily, this is not it. This shoe is great if you're going to dress up fancy for a night out, maybe do a little dancing, and then go home and get comfortable and put these in the back of your closet for a few more months. Somehow the inner material is very... frictiony, so putting them on and taking them off is extremely difficult. The laces are slippery, so plan on double-knotting to prevent them from untying on their own. There's very little support, no breathing, and when stepping the crease on top digs into the toes a little. But they look good and the price is right, so it's hard to complain too much, especially considering the torture the ladies go through with their shoes.
