I had my eye on this corset for a while and finally caved. The corset came in a timely manner and looks JUST like the image! I ordered an XL due to the European sizing & it fits well (I'm 4'11" & usually wear size Medium clothing here in the US). I used it as a piece of a fun Steampunk outfit I put together just before a local convention, and got so many compliments on it! The chains are real and the up close detail is stunning. The fabric is heavy and good quality. The clasps can all be undone, so all you have to do is open and close it from the front after adjusting the straps in the back to your size the first time. The adjustments at the hips are also super helpful for getting a great custom fit. The only thing: one of the clasps on the top kept coming undone at different points throughout the day, and some of the others would start coming a bit undone as well. So every now and then throughout use, just run your hands over the clasps and make sure to check them all for proper closure and you're good to go. I knew of this issue before I ordered, and saw that several other people had mentioned the same thing, so I knew what to expect. I think the clasps aren't exactly TOP quality, but they work well enough to get the job done. But for the price, this piece is a overall a steal, and I now have it to use for fun costuming occasions! I'm between 115-118 lbs. I wear a 4-6 according to the size chart, says small is for US. 4-6. But according to my actual measurements and the chart I should be a large. I own probably 6 corsets and even when I was size 8-12 I've always been able to get a medium so I orginally got a small. I had to exchange it. Even with a medium I still had to do some adjustments to get it. Plus this is designed to go under your ta-tas, I have to put it on like a normal corset, which is fine. 2nd complaint is the claps in the front do not have any kind of locking thing to keep them clasped. The second I breath even slightly deeper than normal or moving at all they come undone. Thankfully I'm very smart and resourceful and I'll figure something because I do not want to be dealing with the clasps every two seconds and I don't want my tatters to be popping out and flapping around all night. So long story short, the size chart needs to be adjusted to be accurate S (00-2) M (2-4) L (4-6) XL (8-10). Then something needs to be done about the clasps like maybe black rubber stoppers to put on the end of the hooks. Or metal things that attach to the hook part that snaps onto the part that goes over button's. Once you fix that its 5 gold stars. I quite like this. It's a very dramatic design, fits quite well, cinches my waist as opposed to everything but my waist as some other corsets seem to (no, I don't need my ribs compressed, thankyouverymuch), and the extra laced bits over the hips let it really flair out there so I just easily fit with everything smoothed out into elegant curves, as opposed to having all my paunch slide of the bottom in a horrible roll due to being overly compressed. I was a little worried that those extra slits might just be places for my paunch to roll out, but this hasn't been the case (and if you need to, it's pretty trivial to just shut them). And while it's not visible in the style, there is also boning in the middle section, so no, you're not going to break out into rolls there even if you do have excess paunch. Probably. That being said, there are a few issues: * It's not exactly the easiest to get on. Unlike some corsets where you tighten the laces once and then leave them and use the clips to pry it on at size every time after, this pretty much requires the laces to be loosened in order to get it on at all. The clips, being big and dramatic the way they are, are much more prone than smaller ones to wind up angled the wrong direction while trying to put them on, and they can only be fastened if they're straight. The chains, too, are easy to break while doing this if you're not careful, so you really don't want to be fighting it. * The clips can come open if you're not careful. Make sure none of the others have come loose once you get it on, and check it from time to time (especially if it feels weird), and you should be fine. It is higher maintenance than some, though. * The chains and back laces were not put on in the optimal fashion. The chains are mostly just a stylistic gripe as they'd look a bit better if the larger drape wasn't crossing the smaller one in it, but the laces work much better when they can be tightened in the middle, not the end. This is a trait of a lot of corsets, but especially with this one, which allows for such a dramatic waistline, and with the added hip laces, keeping the back lace ends at the bottom also puts the back laces at odds with any adjustments you may make to the hip ones. So I do recommend relacing it to suit your usage. * The clips are a bit further apart than they probably should be. Three works at my size, but only barely. This really would do better with four per side in order to be close enough together to not strain the material/boning between them. I could definitely see them failing to hold up at larger sizes, but do note that this is pure conjecture on my part. All that aside, I kind of love this. Read more
