The buckle should open easily while closing securely. This belt has all that. And it looks good enough for casual wear out on the town. The belt is the height I like for my fixed blade sheaths and multi-tools. It's not overly thick, so my uti style clips go one easily. I love the fit and feel of the belt. Here's my tip: I always get a larger size belt because you cut to fit. If you have extra nylon webbing, you could use it in the field. You never know when it will come in handy. I also like the calipers logo on the buckle, and this is one time I like an added bottle opener. It's concealed and quite the party trick. Heavy duty, wide, thick at about 3.4mm of nylon and has some mass at just over 200g, with both the buckle and the belt feeling hefty. Favorite style of belt where you can adjust it to any tightening position you want it to hold at. The release mechanism on this belt holds those positions very strongly, and is a bit annoying to undue at times, but never comes undone accidentally. The head has very strong tensioning grip on the belt, huge spikes into the belt holding the main head to the belt, and the teeth that hold the strap in place are so strong that they actually leave lasting little impressions in the belt.
