This item is esthetically pleasing and it appears to be solidly built. The crock is appropriately heavy so food cooks evenly, and it is easy to clean if it will fit in your sink. The handles on the unit and lid are sturdy, stay cool and appear to be solidly attached. The lid is a bit undersized and does not fit the crock as it should, but that does not seem to detract from its cooking. However, after cooking 5 roasts of similar size, we have become convinced that the “Low” setting is actually high heat, while “High” is low heat. We discovered that the hard way with our first try on “High”, when we had to eat much later than planned. Now that we know that, we are satisfied with its cooking and it is a pretty thing. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I purchased the Elite Gourmet MST1234BX slow cooker brand new. Straight out of the box the lid did not fit! I placed the lid on & changed ends, moved it to press against the each side, but the lid still wobbled. I expect other problems because of the price, but not the lid made to not fit. The lid is an important part of the cooking process. I know this is a mass produced product, but there should be some quality control. I did read some of the 17,286 reviews, but I couldn't tell which slow cooker the reviews were talking about except the ones that had photos. That being said, I made the purchase because I wanted a removable stone pot for easy cleaning. No one suggested a fix, so I'm returning. Read more

This thing is huge and weighs a ton. The black temperature knob requires you to count the turns to get to the temperature you want. The knob should be notched in a noticeable color such as white. I've only used it once and it was smoking at first then was OK. I'll see what happens the second time when I make my homemade soup. Ideally, I'd love to see an attractive, light-weight circular 6 qt crockpot. They were made years ago, but now everything is oval. Also would like the width kept to 12 1/2" to be easy to get in and out of cupboard. Try to find a way to make less bulky on the outside in order to keep width down. Read more
