I can’t speak to actual safety since I haven’t been in an instance relying on it but this is a very comfortable car dog bed. My dog seems to really like it and the plush exterior makes it easy for him to rest his head rather than other options available with a firmer exterior. Car installation is simple with two clasps - one that goes around the back rest and the other that goes around the head rest. It seems secure when the straps are tightened with minimal movement. Good and soft car seat. I purchased for a long car trip. My dog is only 10# so needed it to be elevated so she could see out. I purchased a sturdy pillow to place under the seat which worked. I would have given 5 stars but would like to offer a tip to mfg. My dog likes to stand on the front of her seat to better see outside. The issue is the front of seat dips and has nothing sturdy enough to allow. Maybe raising front and adding some type of bar would be great. Her other car seat is sturdier and allows her to put her paws on front and stand but not soft enough for a very long trip. Read more

I bought the BurgeonNest dog car seat for my small pup, and it’s been fantastic for our drives. The seat is super soft and cozy, so my dog feels comfortable and calm while we’re on the road. I really appreciate the clip-on leash that keeps him safely in place without being restrictive. The storage pockets are a nice bonus — I keep treats and waste bags handy for quick access. this seat is really handy. my dog is abt 12 lbs, and loves snuggling into soft spaces, so she loved this. she also has a more structured bucket booster car seat that is great for other reasons, but it’s not nearly as soft and cozy. more detail below (for those who want it). photos added to show color and size relative to a small dog. disclaimer/context for my comments - i use this in the front passenger seat of my car, and have never used it in the back seat. i’ve only had this during the fall/winter so far, so warm weather isn’t an issue pros: - one hundred percent more relaxing for my dog than riding on anything that’s not secured - leash/tether works perfectly to secure in her harness and the length adjusts easily - goes in the wash machine! - easy to take in and out of the car - takes up less space if it needs to move out of the way (i can jam it in front of the feet of someone in the passenger seat in a pinch, which i definitely can’t do with the bucket seat) - travels well - works perfectly as a dog bed outside the car, so pretty much dual-purpose - i like the colors a lot (i have the blue/whitish version, which is definitely more navy than bright blue) - the pockets on the side were useful for me. i’m constantly dropping credit cards, keys, and pretty much every small thing between the console and the side of my seat. when the dog car seat is next to me, i toss this stuff in the pocket sometimes and have saved myself fishing expeditions later 🙂. the outside pocket is great for leash, bags, etc - SUPER secure and doesn’t move when it’s locked in with the straps - fits in any seat, as it doesn’t need to lie completely flat all the way across to work well (again, unlike the structured, bucket/booster seats) - did i mention cozy? cons: - i don't love the look of the straps across the seat - for aesthetic reasons and because i am weird abt leaving indents in my seats (even temporarily), i prefer using a seatbelt to secure a dog car seat/bed. overall, this definitely shouldn’t deter a buyer who is interested. the dog loves this!
