I bought these for myself (to my husbands disappointment) to both show my fandom and because I like to sleep in shorts, even though I'm always cold. It's not that easy to find 100% cotton boxers/sleep shorts to begin with, so I was thrilled when I saw that these were 100% cotton/flannel. The 2 pack arrived super quick. I was impressed with how these came- not thrown in a bag or vaccum sealed, rather they were carefully folded/rolled and protected by a branded band (thick paper) that keeps the pair together. There's also a branded Calhoun tag and the official NHL tag attached. While there wasn't really an 'unboxing' so to speak, the presentation was stellar and no wasted plastic. Despite not having any peculiar odors, and not appearing to be dirty, I wash everything before wear, so straight to the machine these went. Cold water wash and tumble dry low. Easy peasy. The material is pretty heavenly! These are exactly what I imagine when I close my eyes and picture the softest, most cozy cotton flannel material. They have great movement and feel amazing on the body. I wouldn't really call these lightweight, but they aren't super thick, heavy or bulky either. The light-mid weight shorts aren't see-through either. While these do provide a nice amount of warmth (I would imagine they would be amazing to wear to the rink on game day), they do not make me sweaty- even under my linens and heavy duvet, thanks to the breathable cotton. I can even wear these around the house (in the winter) with a hoodie and stay nice and cozy. While the material is excellent (coming from me, that's huge. I'm a wicked textile snob!), it's cotton so it does shrink a bit in the wash/dryer. The construction of these is equally as impressive as the material. I was hesitant on ordering at first because sometimes branded products like this are the eptomy of cheep, fast fashion junk, but NOT these! These are beautifully made with clean, even and strong/sturdy stitching, hems and material cuts. You won't find a loose or rogue thread, messy, loose or uncut chain of stitching. There isn't a single spot where jagged cut material is visable either. The quality is literally exceptional! There are some other notes about these that nod to the overall quality too. The waistband is all elastic, which is very stretchy and sewn in place. It doesn't roll or get twisted and since the elastic is surrounded by soft flannel, it doesn't rub the skin raw. I also love that there is a nice looking Calhoun/NHL tag sewn onto the front of the waistband, giving these a little something extra. The fly does open and has a small button closure. Personally, I feel the button is a bit tough to open/close, but thankfully I don't have to use it. (It does loosen up after washing though). Matter of fact, the addition of the button closure (as well as quality and comfort) made me buy another set for my husband. He likes to walk around in his boxers and the privacy these have is great. I would be crazy if I didn't mention the embroidery. This isn't a pre made patch that's sewn onto the shorts, rather the gorgeous and sizeable team logo is embroidered right onto the shorts! It's a bit stiff at first, but loosens up pretty quick. There isn't scratchy or stiff embroidery paper behind it, so it isn't scratchy or uncomfortable against the skin. I'm not an expert on embroidery, but I'm a stickler on quality and know it when I see it. This is a super clean, well done and flawless job (obviously done with a machine). It's beyond crisp and clear. There isn't a single loose or broken thread, all the stitches are consistent/even and there isn't a single bit of puckering. I expected a patch stitched on, so this was a very plesant suprise! I am (female) 5'7" and 130lbs currently. I wanted these to be nice and relaxed/roomy and I wanted to accomidate for the cotton shrinkage, so I picked these up in a medium- not even thinking that men's M and women's M are much different. The cut of these is already relaxed and roomy, not tight and constrictive, but they DO shrink. When I first tried these on (before the wash), they fell right off. While the seat/legs gets a bit smaller, the waist really doesn't. I do roll these at the wasit a few times (because they are long on me too) and they stay on fine. When I buy these again for myself (and I definitely will), I will grab a small. My husband is a mammoth man- 6'6", 240lbs and cut/muscular. I grabbed his normal size, XL, and even after the shrinkage they fit him perfect. He likes that they aren't tight and says they are very 'relaxed' feeling. He likes the length too. While they aren't necessarily 'short' on his long legs, he is fully covered and appreciates not having a 'ton of extra material to deal with'. I would suggest ordering your usual size, but if you are in between, size up. Overall, these are pretty awesome. The material and quality is pretty awesome, which already makes them worth $15 each or $30 for the set. These boxer shorts are a solid pick if you're looking for comfort and a bit of style. The plaid design is classic, and the team logos add a nice touch for fans. The fit is loose, as expected, and the material is soft and breathable, making them great for all-day wear. I really like that they come in a two-pack, offering good value. Let me start by saying these are officially licensed, which means they are more expensive than a normal pair of boxers, but also held to a higher standard of quality than unlicensed products. I will also mention that (at the time of this review) these shorts are $10 cheaper on Amazon than on Calhoun’s website, which also only offers the same 7 teams that can be found here. I bought these to wear as lounge shorts/pajamas, and they are comfy as expected. They are 100% cotton, despite looking like flannel, which unfortunately means they may not be the best choice of apparel during the winter months that take up hockey season, but if you’re a fan like me who supports their team year-round, that won’t be an issue. The team logo is fully embroidered rather than being screenprinted or sublimated, which again is a testament to the higher standard that officially licensed products are held to. The downside of this, of course, is that the logo is thicker and more rigid than the rest of the shorts, which as another reviewer commented, didn’t bother me wearing them as lounge shorts, but I could see that being slightly uncomfortable to some if they were worn underneath pants. Calhoun NHL Surf & Skate Men's Team Logo Plaid Loose Fit Boxer Shorts – 2 Pack It's been a while since I tried traditional boxers as I had switched to briefs. These are quite comfortable though. I've been wearing these more like pajamas than as traditional underwear. They have a loose fit particularly as it gets lower down the thigh. I didn't like the feeling of wearing them under my pants though. For those that are more used to traditional boxers they may not have that issue. I like the design. I don't have much Rangers themed clothing so it was nice to add this. I like that they kept the pattern in darker tones with the symbol at the bottom. They feel well made and durable. I have worn them a few times and they've held up well to being washed. They feel a little softer after going through the machine. The price point is in line with what I would expect for licensed products. It's a well made boxer set. I would order another set as a gift. Good choice for any hockey fan. Read more
