This kitchen knife sharpener is a great find for anyone who wants a simple and effective way to keep their blades sharp, without spending a ton of money or effort. It's got six different settings to handle everything from minor touch-ups to serious damage on a variety of knives, including ceramic and serrated blades, plus a slot for scissors, which is a super handy bonus. While the sharpening it provides might not be quite as razor-sharp as a pro-level tool, it's more than enough for all your everyday kitchen tasks, making food prep a breeze and keeping you in your meditative cooking zone. Plus, all the instructions are conveniently printed right on the box, so you can easily get started. Read more

I love to cook. Food preparation is like meditation to me. When I'm dicing, slicing and chopping in preparation for cooking I'm in a world all to myself. It's me, the knife and the ingredients. Nothing else exists. So, I have a nice, hand picked collection of knives and I like to keep them very sharp. I have a couple of different sharpeners and I always have my eyes out for simpler sharpeners, ones that I don't have to put too much effort or time into but give me the sharpness I require. When I saw this on Amazon, I had to order it. First, let me explain how this sharpener works. The sharpener has 6 knob settings. The vendor calls than stages, but it's really not. The 6 different setting correspond to different types of blades that you might have in your kitchen. The first 3 settings, Course, Medium and Fine are meant for for knives where both edges of the blade taper to the edge. Course is to take out imperfections, pitting or major defects. It is truly course so it takes off more metal than the other settings. I would only use that setting for major damage to the blade. Medium is for serious sharpening and fine is to perfect and polish the blade. Most of the time I only need to use the fine setting. But if the blade needs more, I'll make several passes with the medium and then perfect the sharpened blade using the fine setting There is also a dial position for serrated knives, another for ceramic blades and the last for single edged knives. Once you set the knob pointing to the function you wish, you draw the blade toward you, through the opening at the top. The number of times you need to pass the blade through the sharpener depends on many strokes it takes to adequately sharpen your knife. It depends on the type of steel, and the condition of the knife. Only pass it through as many times as necessary to get the blade to your required sharpness. Each stroke removes some metal, so over sharpening shortens the life span of the blade. Only draw the blade towards you, never forward and back. Plus there is another spot for sharpening scissors. For its price, this sharpened does a good job. My knives always come our sharp. Does this sharpener give you sharp edges? Yes, but sharpness is subjective. I have another sharpener which can get the knives even sharper but it costs multiple times more and requires more time and effort to achieve that result. The sharpness that results from using this sharpener is quite sufficient to cut everything effortlessly and that, to me is the goal. There is no instruction booklet but the instructions are printed on the back of the box. It's easy to use, gives good results and it doesn't break the bank. It's well worth it's price. Read more

This knife sharpener really impressed me right from the packaging. It arrives in a well-designed box with clear graphics explaining what the sharpener does and detailed illustrations showing how to use it with both knives and scissors. The back of the box includes written instructions covering all the different sharpening modes, which is incredibly helpful. The sharpener offers seven different settings including coarse, medium, and fine options for regular knives. It can also handle serrated knives, ceramic knives, and single-edged blades, though I haven't had a chance to test those specific features yet. I did try the scissors sharpening function along with the medium and fine slots for my kitchen knives, and the results were outstanding. My knives came out razor sharp. The overall design is really well thought out. It comes with rubber feet that grip the counter perfectly, so there's absolutely no sliding during use. The unit basically locks into place on your countertop, which makes sharpening much safer and more controlled. I particularly appreciate that there's plenty of distance between your hand and the sharpening area, reducing any risk of accidental cuts. My only criticism is pretty minor but could easily be improved in future versions. The adjustment knob has a small red triangle marker on a red background, which makes it difficult to see in certain lighting conditions. Making that triangle black or another contrasting color would solve the visibility issue completely. For now, I plan to mark it with a black Sharpie to make it easier to see. One important tip for anyone buying this: keep the box for at least the first few days. All the detailed instructions are printed on the packaging rather than included as a separate manual. I made the mistake of throwing the box away immediately and had to dig it out of the trash to reference the instructions. This definitely earns five stars for excellent performance, thoughtful design, and outstanding value. It's made sharpening my kitchen tools much easier and more effective than previous methods I've tried. Read more
