Let's be honest. Shelf stable food products aren't necessarily going to have the same attributes as chilled versions of even the same companies similar products or others. What you are getting is the shelf stable qualities. I do appreciate that this does not have a lot of other crap in it, like baking soda or worse. It's just coffee and water. I also prefer to add my own milk, although I understand why a vegan or vegetarian would pick one of the plant dairy options from Califia, since that and almonds are what they are essentially known for. I disgree that there is a significantly noticeable flavor between this and the chilled, however. Particularly once you chill it. I might prefer to move it from these containers into glass after I open it, but that's also a personal taste thing. I do think the size could be sold and marketed larger. It's not really a good price. The texture does work. I drink it with stevia and hazelnut (typically Chobani) creamer. Califa is not my first (or third) choice for cold brew. I typically only buy when it's a good sale price, but I might buy this again for the shelf stability since it is a far better price per ounce than the Colombe or High Brew I sometimes resort to.
