I bought the NS85C tripod, and I'm extremely impressed by the build quality and the mechanics. So first let me say this isn't your cheap plastic/aluminum tripod you'd buy at a Best Buy or Target. This is a beefy solid tripod that's not too heavy to carry on your camera backpack, it has the feel of assurance this isn't a tip over from wind tripod. I love the fact this comes with anti-vibration rubber feet, as well as stainless steel prongs that are great for sticking into loose soil. Raising the tripod to the highest level is easy and it doesn't have that wobbly feeling that cheap tripods have from the center leg/mount. There's a very good reason that this is more expensive than some competing brands, which is because this tripod works for every length lens you have. I bought mine for the A7RV coupled with the very heavy 200-600mm and a 1.4 teleconverter. No other tripod could hold this lens without the sag that comes after tightening down the mount. If your looking for a great tripod, this is it. Read more

I bought this tripod in a more or less emergency situation, and after studying different options one evening just before a scheduled trip. amazon delivered on time to my hotel - 5 star! The tripod is sturdier than what I would have expected from such a light-weight device. It's really versatile as well, and high enough to put my camera at eye level. It got its first use doing astro-photography and performed very well. Comes with a very handy pouch, and fits inside my travel bag. The only negative point is the instruction manual, that's quite light, should be a bit more explicit. I would absolutely buy it again. Read more

Great tripod for large lens, great quality for the money, highly recommend! Using this with a Tamron 150-500mm lens. Small enough to strap to a backpack, strong enough to handle a heavy lens with minimal movement, etc. Really a quality product! Read more

I purchased this tripod on Aug 25th for our Sept. Vacation. The pan adjustment froze up and locked open. Which means the Tripod must be perfectly level for every shot because you can't lock the panning knob. Unfortunately, it is outside the return window. To be honest it was performing great until that, but it wasn't dropped or damaged in any way and it still stopped working. I took a towel and wrapped it around the knob and had to use a pair of pliers to free it up. Maybe it only happens once, maybe it happens again. Just an FYI. Read more

I chose this tripod because I liked the fact that it was Carbon Fiber, had a nice looking head and seemed to offer a lot for the price. For the money I don’t think you can beat it. My favorite part is the clamping on the legs. Tripods in the past I’ve owned you must turn the spinners 3-5 full turns to tighten or loose. Which takes a lot of time to setup (9 of them) on this tripod it takes only 1/2-3/4 turn to fully tighten or loosen the spindles so that is a huge plus for me setup time is minimal. Everything in this review should be gauged by the phrase “for the price” because you get what you pay for and I consider this a 5 Star Tripod for the price. On to the areas that are not so suitable. The Tripod is very heavy. I would not consider it a travel tripod by any means of the word. Get a befree if you want a true travel tripod. The head looks nice and well built but the Tripod Plate is very cheap and because the rubber pad is too large and spongy, along with the lacking clamping mechanism there is about a 2-5mm settle when you tighten down the head for your shot (yes that is a lot). So I constantly have to set and resettle the lens to get it where I want it. (I’m used to this so not a big deal, but more expensive tripods do not have this issue to this extent. Know that when purchasing this one) The ball head also feels lacking in that it could benefit from some oil or something. It just doesn’t feel well lubricated and is slightly sticky. (It doesn’t free up well). Which means if you have to change your shot only a few millimeters good luck. You’ll have to reposition and then account for the above mentioned 2-5mm settle. (This means you basically have to reframe completely every time)((Yes I’m over exaggerating a little bit, but I’m being very honest about the tripod, you will encounter this issue)) All these issues with the tripod may make you wonder if this is really a good purchase or not. To which I say (as someone that has been in the Video Production Business for 13 years) you get what you pay for. And for what I needed this for, the price was great. So I do consider this a 5 star purchase. Just know you’re not buying a $1500 tripod (even though they did a good job making it look like one in the pictures) Lastly, the Carbon Fiber has a different feel than regular carbon fiber tripods. It feels like it’s not as strong as the rest of the tripod. The legs feel sturdy in hand but feel too hollow and ultimately shaky. Very sturdy when nailed down for the shot but when moving them they just feel like the may not last 5-10 years like they should. If this thing got kicked, tripped over or knocked down I wouldn’t be surprised if a leg snapped. All that being said, If you know what you’re buying, the price you’re paying, what you’ll be using it for, and respect your equipment I think this tripod is a great buy. Read more
