Perfect!
If you are NOT a typical office worker who merely prefers a rugged, performance look - but you NEED a sturdy bag while you get the job done, and want to maintain a professional appearance - this bag might be for you. This is an exact fit for my needs. Great work bag for supplies, tools and admin materials. Professional sleek look with quality materials that give you peace of mind that your computer bag can also hold your tools without falling apart and damaging your electronics. This bag is my new every-day work bag, and I LOVE it. The “inner storage” fits my 15in laptop & an external monitor, all my books, paperwork & planner, tech pouch, Large battery pack, tool roll/sack. lunch bag, 32 oz water bottle, and a second 12 oz tea thermos. Outer organization • Trolley pass through is great for sleeving over a travel tool kit, pull cooler or suitcase. (I’m planning to sew in a loop under that trolly pass through, so I can clip the bottom zipper closed for more security when using it as a pocket.) • Front zip pocket will fit small electronics, including small kindle, phone, mag battery, for easy access, and has stretch strap with clip to secure keys, small wallet, etc. • The stretch portions of the bag are made from that nice, thick, performance stretch fabric. This includes the 2 outer side stretch pockets (which each accommodate a 32 oz water bottle of the bag isn’t too full) and the fabric on either side of the main compartment zipper (which helps for a smoother zip with a full bag). While I like having all my items inside the bag for a more professional appearance - it’s nice to have these large, outer, stretch pockets to cram items into at the end of job, when packing out. Or when I need to pick up and secure things while moving about. • those stretch side pocket lay flat against the bag when not in use. Internal Pockets • Love that there are internal side pockets -inside the main compartment- for my water bottle. Sleeker look to have them inside. These internal side pockets are slightly padded, which is great for a large external battery or other tool that needs extra protection. • The zip pocket in the main compartment, is fleece lined which is nice for glasses, phones, or other scratch’ables. • The laptop sleeve has a thick padding, which is comforting. BUT does NOT have that false bottom security for the laptop. My laptop is a slim 15”, and the stretch & velcro closure for the sleeve is too generous. I’ll be adding a few extra strips of velcro hooks to the length of the strap, so I can fasten tighter. • Two sections of pen/accessory slots on either side of the lined zip pocket. I personally only need 2 pen slots, so I’ll probably remove the stitches on one set to have a slip pocket large enough to hold a mouse. Handles • Handles are strong. Each length of all 4 handles are securely sewn into the body of the bag. • I tried a few other bags, and the bag/body to strap ratio is superior on this carhartt tote. • I found the popular backpack convertible straps were anwkward and unnecessary for my purposes (I’m not an office worker who prefers a rugged, performance look. I need to move heavy things and work in cumbersome spaces). • The hand held straps are the right length when carrying or moving a heavy bag by hand without having to strain your shoulder to keep it from dragging on the ground. • The shoulder strap is the right length to free your hands, without hanging low below your torso (or hitting your knees like some taller, convertible/cross body options). I’m really pleased. I’m buying as a gift too Read more
