This is the best coat I have ever owned. I’m 68 years old. Because of my cancer I take steroids. Steroids cause weight gain I needed a new winter coat. I live in Ohio where it’s very cold and right now we are in a storm path that make drop 2’ of snow. None of my winter coats fit me right now. 2 other Carhartts, 3 winter leather coats, my full length dress coat or my under armor camo coat I wore hunting. Sooo I got this coat. It’s amazing. Warm Lots of protection Lots of pockets Drawstrings for your customization of your waist size Great zipper ( large and easy to see and zip)… other coats I tried had those TINY plastic zippers. The wind here in the last few weeks has been freezing and brutal. This coat completely blocks it. Getting in my frozen vehicle is no problem. I’m warm even before my F-150 heats up. Which is pretty quick. Sleeve length is great! My sleeve is 38”. I have extra with this amazing coat. Get one, you will never be disappointed. Read more

I work in the cold (construction)and I don't really like the cold. Cold is bad. With that said, I've owned several of these Extreme coats and replace them every other year. • The fit is spot-on. I wear an XL and although I could get away with a large, it gives me that little extra room for layering on those REALLY cold days. The fabric can be a little stiff so sitting in a truck has a tendency to have the coat ride up. Just unzip it a bit will help. Having no hood on this is a bonus, as I prefer to have a hoodie underneath that conforms to my body better. • The quality is there with this coat. The material stands up to absolute abuse from me, without tearing. The zipper is reasonable quality. Like I've said...i've had many of these and have had 1 failure with the zipper. Pockets are laid out nicely and it really isn't a heavy coat (weight wise). • The rating isn't realistically though at -50f, as I've worked in -50f. Without layering underneath, I would say this coat is rated for -10 to -20f. Layering helps tremendously and you can always layer down if needed. All in all, this truly is a great, cold weather coat that will hold up to some severe punishment. I almost purchased a RefrigiWear this year, but decided to stick to the proven coat here. Why change something that isn't broken? Read more

This is a great jacket. Very warm, fit and finish is very good. Size wise I would say it runs a little big, but because it is a winter jacket I am fine with that. The space the sizing gives/ allows is for layers to be worn and still give you movement. I highly recommend this garment. Read more

This is a very warm coat, and the quality seems fine. The materials are different than the normal Carhartt gear, but that is in the item's description. The sizing seems right per the chart. The cuffs around the wrists are nice for when I was shoveling and snow blowing this winter. I used this coat for most of this winter and it has held up very well. My one complaint is that the sleeves are tight and "rub" my armpits. It took some getting used to, and it has loosened up a little. It does make the coat a little uncomfortable at first. For a "loose fit" item this seems especially strange. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Read more

I've worked in extreme cold environments for many years in my oilfield experience- including the ~50 below zero with 60mph winds of Western North Dakota...so the Carhartt name is familiar to me. This is a very nice, warm, windproof jacket. I've worn it in temps down to 25 below zero here in Colorado, and it was effective with those temps for hours (with matching bibs, which I'll review separately). The only thing I'd like to see different with this jacket is the outer hand pockets having no provision to secure them shut-- either snaps or zippers or velcro. They are positioned in such a way that stuff falls out of them when I bend over. I'd also love for the chest pocket to be accessible with a vertical zipper like the bibs instead of a horizontal velcro flap so I could put a cell there for easier access, but that's a small thing. One other thing I would really like to see in a future iteration is a cinch cable/strap around the mid section inside the lining to allow a tightening of the primary area of the jacket around the mid abdomen-- I'm skinny, so the reason this would help a LOT is that it would make it way more comfortable to sit in my truck seat-- as it is now it's so loose that it's very hard to sit comfortably without the jacket getting in the way of my seat belt or being bulky on my back. If I could cinch the middle of the jacket to my size better it would conform to my shape and make it easier to sit. I have another jacket that has this feature and it's a game-changer. Other than those suggestions though, this is a truly fantastic jacket (and bibs!) for the price, and I highly recommend them to anyone for cold weather weather. Read more

Warmest, lightest coat I’ve ever owned. I’ve been working outside in 25 degree weather and I have to take this coat off periodically to cool off! Very happy with the quality and function. Size down. I’m 5’10” and 155lbs. The small fits me perfectly, even with extra layering. I usually wear a medium but always have to get a small size in Carhartt jackets and coats. Read more

This thing is a beast with the snap on hood! Very comfortable, durable and no restriction of movement. I'm in northern Michigan, where we have consistent freezing temps and regular below-zero windchills. Today 01/20/2026 was 11 with 5-below windchill. I walk dogs for a living who are geared up like me, exxept through a Canadian apparel company. 17.4 miles with 2 Newfies, 1 Akita and 2 huskies, with 25mph wind gusting to 40 and snow most of the day. Stayed perfectly comfortable, warm and dry with no layers! Read more
