The moment I pulled the sweater out of the bag, I was excited about how pretty the raspberry color was, even though it's a little paler than in the pictures (more like a rose color). However, the moment I touched the fabric, I immediately knew it wasn't cashmere because this sweater is NOT soft... it was even scratchy on my hands! Cashmere is soft. It's never itchy against my sensitive skin. The vast majority (90%) of cashmere comes from China and Mongolia. Some is also produced in Tibet, Afghanistan, and Iran. Sure enough, when I really read through all the product details, the first paragraph of the "about this item" says it's made of Australian Merino wool, even though everything else in the description says it's cashmere. The good news... if you were planning to layer this sweater over a thermal base layer, this sweater will most likely be durable and keep you warm, as that's what Australian Merino wool is known for doing. And it's thin enough to layer something over it without a bulky look or feeling. But if you were looking for a soft fabric that could be worn directly against your skin... this is NOT the one. Since I wanted a soft sweater that I could wear against my skin, I will have to return this, despite the fact that it fits well and is pretty. This was VERY small for a normal sized person. It also felt pretty much that it was made out of German Shepherd hair instead of cashmere. If that wasn't enough the return process was made so impossible that I cancelled the return and will forward it on to a less fortunate person who doesn't mind wearing such dog hair scratchiness. Just beautiful. Well worth it. Took a long time to receive but it is perfect. Soft, actually real wool cashmere!! I have another on the way. If between sizes, size up . Pretty pink. Waiting for the one on tan. A little odd smell, not overpowering. but I'll gently wash and put some fabric softener. Read more
