I picked these up for a friend’s older dog who is very gentle but not a big fan of having his face handled. We were a little worried that using eye drops might turn into a daily wrestling match, but it ended up being much easier. The bottles are small and lightweight, which actually makes them easier to hold steady. Before using them, we usually have him sit or lie down in his favorite spot on the rug. One of us gently holds his chin and lifts his head just a little, and the other person handles the bottle. The dropper tip is narrow, so you can aim pretty accurately without needing to get too close to his eye, which helps keep him calm. We’ve been using one or two drops per eye as part of his daily routine, usually in the morning and sometimes again in the evening. It only takes a few seconds. After the drops go in, we give him a treat right away, and now he actually stays pretty relaxed through the whole process because he knows what’s coming next.
