I am a Gen X person and I have probably had more experience with cheap cute shoes than you have. I dress weirder now than I did when I was younger and I have a vast collection of silly shoes. I got these to replace a slightly sillier pair that that detached from the platform. Deducted a star because there is no cushioning at all. They are wide enough to accommodate thick socks or an insole though so that helps. The calf/ankle portion is comfortably wide too, but I don't think they could contain extreme cankles like those we have seen on the news lately. Try not to imagine the person with newsworthy cankles wearing these shoes. The value for the money is very mid. The materials aren't great but they don't weigh much so you won't feel like Frankenstein's Monster stomping around.
