  • MATCHA & SENCHA - Sencha are classified into leaves, stems, buds, and powders in the manufacturing process. It is a tea that collects the classified stems and blends it with matcha tea using a unique manufacturing method.
  • ORGANIC LOOSE LEAF - Japanese sencha green tea is one of the most popular beverages in Japan. The simple manufacturing process allows for a seemingly endless variety of flavors and aromas. It is characterized by the refreshing taste of the tea leaves in their natural state. It is also attracting attention as a health drink due to the nutritional components contained in the tea leaves.
  • HOT BREW & COLD BREW - Two most common ways to enjoy flavorful sencha green tea are hot brewing and cold brewing. • KUKICHA TEA - Also known as Karigane tea, Kukicha is a Japanese green tea made from the stems and stalks of sencha leaves. This organic loose leaf tea from Japan offers a mild sweetness, light umami, and smooth finish. Its gentle flavor makes it a perfect choice for those who enjoy a balanced, low-caffeine Japanese organic green tea.

★★★★★

Favorite afternoon tea.

This Hojicha tea has a roasted, nutty, toasty, flavor with a touch of dark coco. Add honey for sweetness. Overall it's my favorite afternoon tea. True Japan quality tea. Read more

Great quality and value.

We love this tea! Low in caffeine and tastes great. I've bought several of these and intend to buy more as needed. This is a good price as well for organic tea. Hojicha is our favorite tea and this doesn't disappoint. Read more

Best I can find on Amazon.com. After visiting Japan last year.

Hojicha tea from Uji, Japan, is something special and totally unique. Uji is known for producing some of the best teas around, and their Hojicha is no exception. What makes this tea stand out is the roasting process—it gives the leaves a warm, brown color and a toasty, nutty smell with just a hint of smokiness. When you sip it, you’ll notice how smooth and mellow it is, with flavors of toast, caramel, and even a bit of cocoa. It's super comforting and layered without being overpowering. Plus, because it’s low in caffeine, it's a great option if you're sensitive to caffeine or want a calming drink at night without worrying about staying up too late. You can enjoy Hojicha hot, which really brings out its warmth and richness, or iced if you're looking for something refreshing on a warm day. Some people even like to mix it with milk for a creamy, roasted latte vibe. Aside from how good it tastes, Hojicha is also packed with antioxidants, so it’s a healthy choice too. Whether you’re already into tea or just getting started, Hojicha from Uji is definitely worth checking out for its flavor and health benefits. Read more

YAMASAN KYOTO UJI is my go–to brand.

YAMASAN KYOTO UJI is my go–to brand. YAMASAN green tea products are 100% JONA & JAS Certified Organic (which means without pesticides or chemical fertilizers) YAMASAN carefully selects the finest quality organic green tea from Uji, Kyoto, Japan. To date, I have tried the two (2) 80g bags of their Sencha, but admittedly, I have yet to master brewing the Sencha – a work in progress. Moving to the Kukicha Twig Loose Leaf Green Tea with Matcha Powder, I LOVE IT! The Loose–Leaf Green is made of stems of Japanese green tea called “Gyokuro” which is known as high–quality (e.g., L–Thiane) tea. I find it to be very savory and provides a great sense of calm and mental clarity. Out of a sense of precaution, I purchased one (1) 100g bag on Nov. 10th, and on Nov. 17th, I purchase four (4) additional 100g bags. I am literally monitoring Amazon for the announcement of offering its member the 500g Bulk Bag. I learned that YAMASAN offers the 1KG bags Direct to consumers, but at very high shipping costs (which includes Customs clearance, etc.). Amazon, please expedite the effort of providing your member the bulk bag (which you offer for the Sencha?). Read more

Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure others would enjoy it.

The quality of the tea itself is great, but I purchased this to enjoy a low caffeine green tea. This has a burnt earthy taste, that was just not green tea for me, so I switched to co2 caffeine extracted decafs. They are much more expensive than this tea, but taste wonderful. This tea is much better if you treat it like black tea, and add milk I will say, and it also did not give me anxiety like other green teas, so the caffein content must have been low as promised. Lotsa steeps

I love this tea. I can steep the leaves three to four times, and it still retains its perfect umami flavor. The value for the money is awesome. Read more

I prefer hojicha powder

I recently started drinking hojicha and wanted to try the powder and the leaves to see what I prefer. Hojicha powder is definitely the winner. As a coffee drinker, I enjoy intense flavor and the powder offers that smoky bitter flavor I love. The leaves are much weaker. I even tried adding several more Tbsp to make it stronger, but it’s just not the same. This is a good option for people who are sensitive to caffeine. Hojicha is low in caffeine to begin with, but the leaves are an even better option for people who really want to watch their caffeine intake. Read more
