Well, honestly, I bought the mat for a low pile carpet in my home office at my mom's house. Then she had the carpet replaced with a medium-pile LITERALLY the day before the mat arrived. Im using it any way. It gave me and mama got a good workout unrolling it, but we got it down and it makes getting in and out of the chair easier. This is only day 2 of using it, but so far I am pleased. My only gripe is the dents in the mat after sitting in the chair for a while, which makes it slightly difficult to get close to my desk, but I assume that's because of the new more plush carpet. Other than that, the size is great, it's strong, and helps the chair roll better than on the bare carpet. Read more
Hello, it’s me—November 15, 2025
Ordered this for my home office. My chair was hard to move on my carpet. I loved the size. It was a little difficult to unroll but I put 10 lb weights on the edges. It doesn’t seem quite rigid enough. When I have my chair in one position for a long time it seems to let my chair sink in and it’s a little difficult to get rolling. All in all I am happy with my purchase. For the price, it’s perfect Read more

Granted I'm using it on thick carpeting, but I didn't see a single one here on the big A that said it was for thick, so I got it even though it said thin. I've had half a dozen of these carpet protectors over they years, they're ok for a time, then they break down. (I limped my last one so long it drove my wife crazy) Again, they all seem to say thin carpeting or nothing at all. This one was billed as slightly thicker than others, plus being polycarbonate I went for it. It is so thin and soft while I wouldn't say it's worthless, it's not of much value. The chair doesn't roll well. Not at all. Going beyond that, you know how they all have little spikes on the bottom to keep it in place? Those things that are downright dangerous when it's disposal time? Not this one, it's more like little mosquito bites, short and rounded. The mat constantly moves around. Maybe they're better than nothing, but not much. Price is right, but not much else. Read more

The mat is just fine...hard to open at first and unroll, but it is sturdy and works just fine. The instructions helped a lot with how to get it to lay flat. Read more

I bought this to replace an existing floor protector that was falling apart. The new one looks pretty much the same as the old one. It does take a bit of effort to unroll it on the carpet. It will take a few days for it to lay totally flat. The protector does it's job. I'm hoping to get 3-5+ years of service out of the protector. I've found they don't last forever. Read more

It's cold and the box & mat are cold and stiff from being in the truck. I'm letting it warm up overnight so it doesn't crack. Tomorrow I'll unroll it as shown in the instructions. It looks like it will work well for me. I'll attach another picture and update after I get it in place. Update 2 days after received: I have a small heater in the room whuch helps to make it more pliable and was finally able to unroll it last night and put heavy objects on it to weight it down. The SMELL of the plastic is offensive to me but hoping it will dissipate in time. I keep using air fresheners in the room and hoping for a little warmer day that I can open windows! I smelled it a little when I first took it out of the wrap but all plastic has a "new" smell at first. This is MUCH WORSE! I deducted 1 star because of the odor. Yay! It's finally flat and in place. It was hard finding a mat that fit in the kneehole area of my desk, but this one's perfect. Overall it works well in my space, makes it much easier to roll around, and will save the carpet. UPDATE 10 days after arrival: The odor is still present even after opening windows in the room (where the mat is located) for at least 4 hours on a cold windy day for fresh air. Every time I walk into the room, it smells faintly of a skunk-like odor. If you can tolerate the smell, it's a good item for the money; but if a strong odor is intolerable for you, don't buy it.
