This is my second piece of July luggage, and I do find it impressive. The case feels a bit more rugged than most suitcases I’ve used, though it’s admittedly difficult to gauge durability without the benefit of extended use. I hope the shell holds up for many years to come. Durability is the intangible that truly sets cheap luggage apart from expensive luggage in my mind, and the initial impression can be deceptive. Hopefully this lives up to the hype. Polycarbonate is highly regarded as a durable choice for luggage, so if this polycarbonate is well made, then that is promising. The features of this suitcase are solid. There are a lot of good and relatively inexpensive suitcases with advanced features on the market, so it is difficult for one to stand out. Still, this has a few features I’ve rarely encountered. The dirty clothes bag zipper compartment on the edge is a fantastic inclusion. I frequently forget to bring a spare bag when traveling, so this is fantastic in my mind, especially because it tucks away so effortlessly. A second feature I haven’t seen often is the semi-firm layer divider that can be adjusted within the suitcase. I feel like it provides some versatility beyond just zipping each side. The third feature I noticed that truly stands out, and the one I’m most excited about, is the handle adjustment. Most suitcases have 2-3 positions they can lock into, but I can adjust the height of this handle from the height of the suitcase all the way up to full extension with any level in between. This may not seem significant, but I sometimes need to roll two four-way spinner suitcases with one hand while traveling, and it’s a significant point of frustration when the handles don’t align. This means I can level this suitcase handle with one from a suitcase that extends to a different height. A downside to this suitcase is that it weighs just under 12.3 lbs. I consider this a few pounds heavier than I’d prefer for a suitcase because it can be so difficult to keep weight down for flights. If you’re trying to fill this suitcase with clothing and keep it under 50 lbs, I think you will find it very difficult to do, so every pound might be critical. Still, the extra weight is admittedly an exchange for durability and features, so it is understandable. There are one or two small components that could be removed to lower the case weight a small amount if someone were determined. Overall, I consider this an excellent suitcase. If I’m still using it in a decade, with my extensive travel, then I’ll consider it a fair value at $395 for one case. Most of the cases I’ve gotten in the $100 range get a crack or broken wheels within 1-2 years. I’m hoping this case can prove expensive luggage is worth the extra cost. If I were shopping for another case today, I’d likely stare at this case with admiration and then decided to order something less pricey. If I’m deciding again in 5-10 years after this one has proven itself to me, then I might order another July case. Read more

Literally no complaints at all about this luggage except this price, because paying $400 for luggage is a tough sell unless it’s mad of super titanium or similar hard exterior material. This exterior is strong, but it doesn’t feel exceptionally strong or unbreakable, so the cost is hard to justify. With that said, this luggage holds up so it’s worth it if you’re willing to spend a lot on pretty luggage. This is a great expandable luggage case with a built in cinch system that crunches your clothes down (but that part isn’t removable, so some people might find the cinch system annoying). My suitcase traveled from the U.S. to Paris and then to Kenya and back to the U.S. totally unscathed, in addition to be dragged up and down 9+ stories of cement stairs repeatedly. The wheels roll smooth, and the multi-click level handle is really nice and easy to operate. It’s a good size (see pic of my dog next to it for reference - a large border collie could fit inside) and it holds a lot…honestly, if you fill this to the brim, you’re probably going to go over airline weight restrictions, so be prepared to weigh your suitcase if you stuff it and don’t want to pay excess baggage fees! The zippers shut smoothly and hold tight, and the inner straps are good quality too. The pink color is really pretty but it does show scuffs/dirt more than darker colors will. Read more
