I bought this kit and then another pack of the containers. It is certainly not cheap with the cordless vacuum pump, but after using them for various food prep activities, I have been quite pleased. For wet dishes, they work very well. You just need to make sure the sealing area is clean. Releasing the vaccuum is easy, and the vacuum pump is automatic. You sit it on the container with the vacuum valve fully seated closed, and hit the button. It vacuums down and stops when it achieves the proper vacuum. I've had containers hold a vacuum for over a week which was better than I expected. I tried using it to store fresh ground coffee. In this case, I found it doesn't work as well. When releasing the vacuum, it would blow the fresh grounds up into the seal and it became more trouble than it's worth. I switched back to a more basic vacuum container with a hand pump as it's easier to feather the vacuum release on that older container I have. Otherwise, I've been very pleased with these. The only difficult part is cleaning the seal after removing it. That's true of trying to clean most container seals. I'd say value for money was pushing the edge of what I think is acceptable. I would have preferred these were priced a bit more modestly, but if they hold up for a few years I'll be quite happy. For now, I'm going to give it a 5 rating, but if I start having sealing issues, I'll update this review. Thus far I've been using them for 3-4 weeks without any issues. Update: I left two of the containers in the fridge with some leftovers in them for a week untouched. I removed them after 7 days and both still held a vacuum within. One thing to note is you must ensure the sealing surface or the top of each container (5/8" or so) is perfectly clean. Any amount of contaminates on the sealing surface will result in a leak. I have also tried the matching vacuum resealable bags. Three of them have worked great, but one did develop a leak that wasn't at the sealing strip. It was like a seam of the bag or pinhole developed in the bag with limited use. I do like the bags because they have the plastic disc which keeps the bag sealing surface for the vacuum pump flat which is something I had issues with on Food Saver OEM bags back in the day. I was so excited to get this! It works great! Super easy to use. Charges quickly. Quiet. I did need to use the bag zip tool. That was a bit to get used to. I really hope this lasts for many years cause I'm gonna use the heck outta it! It doesn't leak out any air either. It seems to hold up really good. I know that I will need to pre-freeze any liquid before sealing. I bought extra bags so that I can freeze a lot and still use other bags for dry goods. These bags are reusable which is a fantastic extra for this! I highly recommend! Read more

Chef Preserve Compact Vacuum Sealer for Food - This is the BEST kitchen gadget I have ever used. I am glad I waited for inventers to create a much smaller version from the old countertop one. It is just as pictured. Just as described. My produce stays much more fresh, crisp and keeps its color. Although a bit costly, it is well worth it. I sincerely recommend this product for it saves money from premature rotting of food items. I will purchase as gifts to family members. Chef Preserve Compact Vaccum Sealer is a time saver as well. So far, the vacuum itself has been great. The bags are excellent the first time, but after running them through the dishwasher, they are hit or miss. They have become harder to seal. They do send you a little plastic “closer,” but unless you have strong fingers, it is tough to get a good seal with or without the “closer.” In response to some saying the bags leak or take on air, this is true if you don’t get them closed well, so part of that may be user error. I’d like to see them offer a pair of pliers fashioned as the “closer.” Something us older folks could grip easily to help zip the bags closed. Read more

This product has exceeded my expectations. It is easy to use and effective. I used to have to toss avocados routinely, but now with this vacuum sealer, they keep just fine. Also, the sealer is attractive and sits easily on the counter without taking up any more room than a pepper grinder. Now my produce keeps much longer, I save money, and I add less to food waste. Chef Preserve Reusable Vacuum Sealer Bags work very well with the Chef Preserve Vacuum system. The bags are durable and keep food fresh. The bags are leak proof and the thickness is just right.
