We tried several different brands and types of filters for our pour over Chemex coffee carafe (the kind available at the local grocery store), and we kept finding that other filters would break as you poured the water, getting coffee grounds everywhere and ruining your coffee. These are simply made out of a large square folded into a cone, so nothing can possibly come apart.
