Cute but won't last
This is cute but I really don't believe it's a very good value. I only took a few items out of the zip pouch it came in because I bought this to give as a gift and things are wedged so tightly, I didn't think I would be able to get it all back in. Don't buy it just because it has a storage case because a child would never be able to put everything back in the pouch. I can't say it's smaller than expected because the dimensions are clearly stated in the description. Item Dimensions LxWxH9.65 x 7.09 x 2.76 inches. That is my fault for not reading the description completely. To me, the xylophone and mallets are the most important part of the set and they are made with such thin wood that surely they won't last very long. Especially the mallets as they are made from a very small diameter dowel and would be easily broken by small children. The xylophone does have a pleasant sound and will be fun while it lasts. If you purchase this set for a small child, I recommend not letting them play with it unattended as there are many small, delicate parts. And be prepared to buy a small storage tote to store it in, alternatively it will also fit in a regular size shoe box. I contemplated returning it to Amazon mainly because I feel it is overpriced for what you get, especially since the storage pouch is useless.
