A lot of sunscreens claim to not have a white cast, but then you apply one and end up looking like a vampire who hasn't seen the sun in hundreds of years. This Clarins SPF 50 sunscreen is a unique formulation in a spray bottle (not aerosol) that comes out as more of a lotion than a greasy or sticky sunscreen. There's a slight scent to it that I'm not sure how to describe, but it doesn't bother me. My skin feels hydrated and not sticky when I wear it. I've used it a couple of times when I've been in the sun for prolonged periods and it's done the job--no sunburn! This would be a great product to take with you to a music festival, amusement park, etc. A lot of those places don't allow aerosol spray cans of sunscreen, and the big squeeze bottles can be heavy and bulky. I’m surprised I don’t like it as much as I thought I would is big but it does not go on smooth but rather sticky. I don’t like the texture of it, but it smells lovely. It does not leave a white recipe. It’s just not smooth it makes your clothes stick to your skin. Read more

This is generally a nice sunscreen, though I have a few issues with it. It is a spray but a pump spray, not an aerosol, so all of the (very expensive) sunscreen goes where you've sprayed it, on your skin and not off into the atmosphere. It can take a lot of pumps, though, to get full-body coverage, at the beach for instance. The lotion itself is nicely moisturizing and it's not sticky or greasy or heavy-feeling, and the mild scent is pleasant and in any case dissipates quickly. It comes out white and needs to be rubbed in to avoid the dreaded white cast, though this goes quickly and as it is white, you can easily see what needs rubbing in. This is a chemical sunscreen, by the way, not mineral, which explains why it absorbs so easily, but this is not clear from the information provided on the Amazon page, and it should be as some people have strong preferences about this. (I prefer chemical myself.) All in all, I find this more useful for sort of spot-protection--for arms, say, when my legs are protected by jeans--rather than for full-body application, so I don't see it as the single solution to sun protection, though it's nice to have around. My husband and I spent 2 days of hiking trip with this sunscreen with no issues. It is different than other spray sunscreens because this is not an aerosol but like a mist. It is very moisturizing, so if you are a person who sweats a lot, it may not be an option for you. But for people with dry skin, it is a blessing. It has a very mild, floral scent and it dissipates quickly. It has antioxidants with some organic ingredients. Just beware that this is not for your face. There is another sunscreen in the same line just for your face. It is expensive for a 5 fl oz bottle, but for me, it is worth the price because you pay for the quality, not quantity. Read more

Besides the fact that this sunscreen is SPF 50+ and is the trusted brand, Clarins, there are a few other things I really like. First, it comes in a spray bottle which allows you to direct it at an area of your body and then spread with your fingers. The spraying alone does not cover - you do need to spread after spraying. The spray pattern is fairly narrow and focused when holding a few inches away, so you don’t need to worry about overspray getting on other things. I also like the refreshing scent, which is nothing like traditional sunscreen. It smells like peonies! And finally, i like that it is lightweight so you aren’t covered in white - it does soak in and leaves a little tackiness for about five minutes, then is not detectable.
