We all need something like this, but we don’t realize it until we actually need it. This hanging rod is made of solid material and has a good weight and thickness, so I knew it could hold up well. I tried it in my car to see if it could hold my dry-cleaned clothes. The main purpose was to use it as a towel hanger when we’re at the beach and need a place to change. It provides a sturdy rod to hang a towel either in the front seat or the backseat. I have it in the back of my SUV for now, low enough to hang and attach bags but not too high that the bags swing back and forth. I was surprised to find the latch that extends the rod from the widest and narrowest part of my car. Once attached correctly, the rod won’t fall off. The extra clips that came with the rod were perfect for that one area where you need a specific type of hook to hold the rod in place. I could have used those clips for that, but I didn’t know they were there. I also used a set to hang on the headrest rod and was able to hang stuff there too with those plastic rods. Overall, this is a must-have for all the extra shenanigans that happen in a car, whether it’s for privacy, to hang a lot of dry-cleaning clothes, or as a grocery bag hanging rod. With a little jerry-rigging, we install this rod in the back of our campervan so that we can open up some storage space while on longer road trips. Great for weekends away or picking up dry cleaning etc. Very easy to install. Tubes screw together easily, with a telescopic section that is easily adjusted for a perfect fit - I connect one side then adjust the other until it is extended as far as possible in my car to minimize movement. It fits securely to the hand grips in my car with the hooks and with the extra security of the Velcro straps. The pole is very sturdy and have no doubt it could support the quoted 50lbs. I was surprised how little my cloths move when hung with standard hangers across the bar; there are a few rubber rings around the bar where I have been placing my hangers next to which I suspect are helping with this. I have a Lincoln Aviator and the bar easily extends across the middle row - with a lot of telescopic extension still available (actually have to use the telescopic section to reduce length (push some of non telescopic section into telescopic section)). There are a few clips that come with the bar ; these are great for hooking over the car handles and hanging some additional clothes or if you only want to hang a few items (see picture). In my car you can simply use the hooks that you would normally put clothing on and telescope the bar across the entire back of your car.
