I roast a lot of coffee and was looking for something to rapid cool. There are several options, but in my opinion, you have to consider (3) factors: design, quality of construction, and price. This design is simply superior to the single hopper models. In those other models, there are still two screens, but because there is no "lower" tray, that smaller screen is just a smaller ~5" screen grid directly over the fan. Sure they saved money, but the airflow is compromised by using only one tray. Construction is utilitarian and simple. Not the highest quality, but doesn't need to be. I left mine out in the rain one time, and... no surprise the fan died. But thankfully, it's a standard size fan, like the literally hundreds of thousands (or millions) in PC boxes all over the planet. You can buy a same form-factor fan for under $10. Or even splurge to $15 and getter a higher CFM fan. Nice, simple fix. Lastly price. It's less than the inferior design models. Would buy again, but honestly, the parts are so simple to replace/repair, I don't envision needing to for a long time. I've gone through several more roasters than this cooler! Read more
Was looking for something to separate the chafe and this helps with that but it also cools down coffee much more quickly and easily than using multiple colanders and standing outside. I have a simple roaster that's a rotisserie converted to a roaster with a coffee drum. No real control over heat, air flow, etc. And only roast about 247g of beans at a time. The cooler is easy to use, cools the beans quickly - much more quickly than my old manual process - usually in 2-4 minutes. You just put the beans in the top filter which sits over a chafe collector and the machine sucks cool air down as well as chafe from the first filter. You do have to stir the beans to cool them all down, especially if you want to cool them down quickly but I've left them there without stirring and they still all cooled down quickly. The material of the filters is pretty thin but doesn't seem to be an issue at least short term. Not sure you need anything thicker, really. It works well for what it is - does what it's supposed to do. I like it. Read more
Read more

Cools fast. Skeptical when I ordered. Turn it on before dumping beans and it cools quickly. Top bin does sit a bit wobbly as mentioned by others. Chaff collects nicely in second tray. Read more
Very happy with this purchase, this unit is cooling roasted beans in two minutes or less. Really easy to set up and keep clean. Read more
Typically roast with a Behmor 2000AB, forward projecting roasts. Now, with some handy dandy grill mitts, I stop the roast exactly where I want it, extract, dump into the cooling change and almost immediate cooling stops the roast process in its tracks. Wouldn't mind a little more in way of chaff removal, but for what it is, it is a value added feature to home roasting. Read more
