This is basically a large screw-shaped presser that brings food down into the chamber, pushing it along the channels as it turns and forcing the food against the chamber walls, pressing out the juice. You can juice apples, pears, citrus, greens, and any other fruit or vegetable that is more granular or has pulp chambers with juice. Other foods that are smoother textured and more suitable for blending (i.e. bananas, kiwi, etc) won't do well with this juicer. Cleanup is very easy as far as juicers go; simply disassemble the main parts, rinse them off. Some brushing with a dish brush helps too, or use the one included. A couple of caveats: don't put frozen things in here, and don't juice more than ten minutes constantly to save on motor life. Overall a nice basic cold-press juicer. It's somewhat loud but I expected that. It's heavy, but no heavier than a blender. I picked this up so that I can make juices for my homemade ice-cream, sherbet, and sorbet. I like mixing interesting flavors, so I wanted to be able to use any juice I wanna, this works perfectly for that. I also love that while you to have to spread out quite a bit to used it, cutting boards catchers, and the machine, but it condenses really well for storage. It is kind of a pain to clean, but not more than other juicers and arguably a little less because the pulp is easier. It is very easy to make juice, and the juice it makes has a nice consistency that is packed with flavor. Overall it is a great little machine, it is not silent, but not as bad a as a coffee grinder.
