This thing is MASSIVE. German 4116 is a very versatile steel that I have enjoyed in many Cold Steel knives. Often times these are 20 and change, but this cleaver does not disappoint and is an amazing value at $50. It's a bit larger than I expected but it is billed as a Commercial product. It makes short work of any chopping/separating duties. I highly recommend a heavy duty cutting surface because this tool is a beast. Read more

Great cleaver for all around kitchen prep. Not to large if you know how to use a 10" chefs knife well. Ribs, chicken etc... it's cuts through like butter. I don't hunt, but looks like it would be very sufficient. Read more

I purchased this through an online knife retailer. I have been very pleased with this. Cold Steel, under Lynn Thompson's leadership, produced some amazing pieces. This is one of them. I use it primarily on chicken. It has never met a chicken bone that it could not easily break down for the soup pot. Read more

I bought this and haven't used it yet , other than to test on paper cutting. Mine is" incredibly" sharp...with the 4116 Stainless steel , I don't know if it can be used outdoors. Maybe for lite chopping ? Watch that blade edge though , one touch and you're bleeding . Read more
