Awesomeness ! but needs re-engineering for larger propane tanks & the filter is not great !

ApopleoDecember 17, 2022

I love this coffee pot - yes, it's a bit slow but as other said - savor the time it's brewing at your campsite watching the sun rise, etc. and then enjoy some amazing HOT coffee ! The coffee is easily as good as anything I've had at home and we have a Techovorm. This is a perfect accessory for car camping or overland vans / RVs. Unfortunately , there are a few issues. The coffee basket itself is its weak point. Finding a filter that actually works is a hassle. Choose the wrong one and you end up with an overflowed mess and coffee everywhere. Why they don't furnish a re-usable filter is beyond me. Unfortunately nothing seems to work on that front so we're stuck with paper filters that are a PAIN. Also - Coleman INSISTS on using its wonky, proprietary connections and hard lines for 1# canisters. Most of us roadies use larger propane tanks and flex hoses - so the connectors the coffee pot comes with are totally useless. Yes, there are adaptors you can use to connect the propane tanks to the 1# fitting on the regulator but you are still stuck with the funny angled hard line which really gets in the way. What Coleman really needs to do is offer a quick disconnect type fitting instead but they will probably never do that so I was able to come up with a nice elegant solution. 1> Order this : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KG9BWDM 2> Using a long schrader core removal tool and a pair of needle nose pliers - remove the useless valve in the center of the 1# adaptor - if you do not do this step it will not work 3> CUT the coleman metal hard line that runs between the regulator and fitting approximately 1 inch from the regulator, and 1 inch from the fitting that connects to the coffee pot. Use a tubing cutting tool to keep it clean. 4> Connect a rubber gas line hose - purchased from the auto parts store - that is roughly 6mm in diameter to each of the ends you have left - one at the regulator - one at the fuel adaptor going into the quick pot the hose MUST be tight, but does not need clamps (gas pressure is very low). 5> Finally, connect the adapter you bought in #1 above to the 1# gas can fitting , tighten it very tight , you will not need to remove it again. You are done, and now you have a very nice, flexible , easy to use solution for large propane tanks without the dumb hard line to get in your way. The regulator is at the tank, and very easy to see / vary the gas flow. We have used this now for a month and it works very well. Hope this helps you DIY types out there who get tired of the all the types of propane fittings like i do ! Read more

Replaced my still working camp stove coffee pot

BaneJune 24, 2019

Years back I had previously purchased the Coleman Stove top coffee pot and while I enjoyed it thoroughly, every morning was a constant battle in my own head. Do I make the wife happy and make breakfast first? Or, do I make myself happy and make my coffee first? Neither of us are the pleasant type when deprived of what we enjoy, so, I broke down and bought this one when I had enough $ saved to do so. I absolutely love the coffee pot. There's nothing about it that I dislike, well, one thing, but I will get to that in a minute. It makes coffee equally as fast as the stove top variety, if not quicker, and it solved my food or coffee first predicament. Coffee pot lights with one click every time and puts out consistently tasting coffee. Here's my knock on it; No, not the fact that it gets discolored from heat, everything gets discolored from heat. My number one gripe; COLEMAN, Listen up here, MAKE AND OR INCLUDE A COFFEE FILTER BASKET THAT FITS THIS!!! I don't know about everyone else but I live in a humid climate and keep coffee filters closed up in a dedicated camping storage bin and my filters always go flat due to the moisture they collect. I got around this issue by finding an el cheapo re-usable coffee filter basket that fit into this coffee maker. I first tried the Gold Tone brand but the height was too high to fit. I finally found a cheap one hanging up at a grocery store for like 3.00 and I am now the happiest person in the world to no longer have to worry about filters not filtering correctly, or, if I have them or not in the first place. I now leave it in the coffee maker so now it's always together. Something to consider if you're a frequent camper that may want to look for a basket. Just make sure if you get one, save your receipt and or order multiples as they vary slightly in size from brand to brand. Just buy this darn thing, it makes everyone else jealous! Read more

Great for every day use in no electricity situations.

Works great. Super simple, just turn on the gas valve and press the ignitor. I make 4 cups in 5-6 minutes every morning. Read more
