Columbia Womens Newton Ridge Plus Hiking Boot

Wore these boots on a family vacation. We hiked Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Additionally, we visited and hiked Red Slot Canyons. For 4 days, I wore and walked in those boots. My feet never hurt. They were supportive for both ankle and feet. They are waterproof, I walked in waters just below ankle level and my socks/feet were dry. They are light and comfortable. They also looked nice/stylish. After reading a million reviews I bought these and was not disappointed. Bought for a trip to Montana in late October. It was cold but not negatives cold. These were waterproof and kept my feet warm. I was shocked that my feet weren’t sore at all. I didn’t originally plan on wearing them everyday but I did because they were so comfortable. These were great on a icy deck. Plenty of traction in the snow. Wore them an hour hiking muddy wet rocky, muddy conditions and feet stayed perfectly dry. I would give him a five if they were a bit wider on the soles. They're too wide on the inside but a bit too narrow on the very bottom. I want the stability when I'm out hiking with wider soles. I don't need to have dainty looking narrow feet when I'm out of the trails I want performance. And I'm not interested in hiking with somebody who wants dainty feet over performance either. Those are the females that give females a bad reputation. So we tend not to get the better quality stuff. We don't have real pockets in our pants for instance because females would rather look skinny. Something was wrong with the right boot,- too big my foot was wobbling in it. Put in some thick inserts and not having that issue. These are great on trail. Not so great on asphalt because it is not highly cushioned. Boots have a nice mixture of stiff support with some give to it. The heel and the ankle are a bit too wide for me, but when I tie them very tight it works, a bit too wobbly in the upper angle for me because my trails are rough. I needed a good grip on ice, waterproof, and warm. These were great in those areas. I did wear thick wool socks. I would give them a five for waterproof and grip. Read more

Comfortable, study, love the fact that the entire top front is one piece with no seams. I have wide feet and these boots accommodate the width yet still have a snug fit elsewhere to provide the support I need. Read more
