These are very nice socks to wear in the cold wintertime. Rather thick (as needed to keep my feet warm in winter temps 10 - 40 degrees F), but soft and not 'itchy' at all on my feet. I purchased these socks for snowshoeing in Taos. Despite not being 100% wool (mostly acrylic and 27% wool) they were quite warm and comfortable. The negative (reason for 4 of 5 stars) is that they are slightly large (but less than other brands) for my size 6M feet, though they seemed to settle without bunching.
