I ordered this brace because I already had the shorter, wrist-length version from Comfort Cool, and was very happy with it. I have recuperated from the carpal tunnel surgery that resulted in use of the shorter brace, but now I had a FALL, landed on my right hand, and need something again that will brace my thumb, increase wrist support and go a bit a bit longer on my arm. This neoprene brace is comfortable and adjusts to feel secure, but it does not get too tight or too hot. I have tried 4 or 5 different types (again) and appreciate this one for the security and fit. I'm older and do a lot with my hands. Keyboarding, cooking, knitting, gardening, weaving. Carpel tunnel was apparent, though not too bad. I'd expected it as I've had two surgeries on my right wrist/hand. I have the smaller one of these braces and I like it. However, it isn't long enough to give my joints a rest at night. I decided to order this one (without the stabilizing inserts). I just love it. It's long enough to immobilize the wrist/hand yet isn't stiff and confining. It's cool, flexible if you need to move your thumb, and very comfortable all night long. And - it's adjustable and comfortable. It's a bit confusing to put on your wrist the first time. These braces were initially recommended by my Occupational Therapist and I LOVE them. I have multiple sets & wear them each until they're falling apart. They're much more comfortable & allow more function than the beige ones with the hard metal stays with the same support & pain relief. I also think the neoprene style is better at accommodating my swelling - the braces themselves are very adjustable, but the neoprene also has a little stretch. For those of us who have arthritis in both their wrists & thumbs, this style is great! The reasons for only 4 stars: The neoprene on the thumb portion starts to fray & then break down quite quickly, faster than the rest of the brace. For the price point, that is really disappointing. The Velcro strap that goes around the wrist also sticks out. That extra strap sticking out can get in the way (in the kitchen, driving, putting on gloves...). When my arthritis isn't too bad, I use a black hair band to hold down the wrist strap, which adds a step, but helps. Ideally, the manufacturer would add a way to fasten that end. I am so happy I bought this. I have DeQuervain Tendinitis and was prescribed a brace by my doctor. However, the brace ended at the base of my hand and didn't offer any support for my wrist. Also, the skin between my thumb and hand was rubbed raw by the strap so I had to wear a glove under the brace. This brace is much more comfortable and supports my wrist. Read more
