It's kinda a pain to fish them out with my finger tips when they barely stick out after adding milk/creamer. Besides that, they're strong enough to strike the coffee and mix everything together. I didn't realize that they wouldn't be tall enough for all of our disposable hot cocoa cups. A half an inch makes a difference if the straw remains out of the lid or swimming in the liquid.
