Excellent at cooking but the controls can be hard to see. I'm older so I am both nearsighted and farsighted and the thin font used on the panel means using a magnifier if I'm not wearing my glasses (I don't generally wear them at home). I gave up an 1100 watt microwave to downsize to this 1000 watt unit but powerwise I don't see any real difference. Also, this unit has a child lock which comes on when cooking starts and doesn't unlock until you press the unlock button. I don't have kids but I'm keeping it as an "earthquake" lock since we have those here. If you want to turn it off, the method is explained in the accompanying user manual. The inside is spacious enough for most cooking and looks easy to clean inside and out. Consumer Reports said users complained about uneven heating but I didn't experience that. I do know that when you microwave something you should let it sit a minute to allow the heat to spread evenly so maybe some people don't know about that and complain instead about the microwave. Consumer Reports did say this brand is very reliable so I hope that means it will last me a long time. Read more

I really thought this was going to be a nice microwave. What a joke, the display, clock, timer, you can barely make it out. T he timer, stops showing how much time is left, after you enter it. Also, you CANNOT hear the beep, when food is finished. I burned 2 cakes because your microwave SUCKS! Also, I returned the microwave, Amazon received this back on 4/1/25, I guess the April Fool joke is on me, because I still HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND!!!!!! Yet, it states on the returned item page, when Amazon receives the merchandise, they will refund you. NO THEY WILL NOT!!!! It is now 4/7/25, and I still HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND!!!!!! This review is for the Commercial Chef CHM16100B6C Countertop Microwave Oven,1000 Watts, Small Compact Size. It's big, which I wanted. IT'S LOUD, LOUD, LOUD, which was a surprise. There are no intuitive numbers, for example, with most microwaves if you press the number one, it will start the unit for one minute. This does not do that. However, if you only want 30 seconds, all you have to do is press 30 and start. It seems to do what I need it to do, pop popcorn, reheat food, and cook my vegetables. The spousal unit likes to make microwave eggs, and that seems to work well. Melting cheese is quick, but heating water seems to take a while longer. For two cups it takes four minutes. It has a cord that is almost long enough, almost. Allowances had to be made, but I got it to fit where I needed it to be. PROS: It is a much better unit than the Toshiba ML-EM45PIT(BS) that only lasted for 14 months before it bit the dust, and that was after it had been replaced twice. It holds a large (not x-large) casserole dish, which works for most vegetables. The instructions are easy to understand. It beeps more than once to tell you that your food is ready. That is probably the best thing there is to say about this unit. I don't always hear the first beep. It seems to be heavier & more stable then the Toshiba ML-EM45PIT(BS). That one I could toss around like a rag doll. CONS: It is startlingly loud. You will never be able to make that popcorn without everyone knowing about it. I read the reviews on this microwave. Many said they thought it was loud for a microwave, but I thought.... It can't be THAT loud. It is. It is that loud. I returned it just because of the sheer loudness of it. I could hear it down a hall, 3 rooms and a garage away, behind a closed door. It was ridiculous. Do not purchase this product! It was a more expensive microwave and stopped working just 6 months after we purchased it—totally quit in the middle of microwaving something! We submitted a claim because it was still under warranty and are STILL waiting 4 months later for a replacement….way too long to receive a new appliance! And, their warranty representatives are horrible—they could never tell us when we would receive the replacement microwave (we are still unsure if and when one is coming). Now, we’re out the money for this microwave (that we STILL haven’t received) and a new microwave we ended up purchasing because we need one for daily use.
