The Astronomy Dude—September 14, 2025
I have quite a bit of experience with tripods over many years. I have been a professional photographer for 50 years and an observational astronomer for 60 years. I have had over 100 various tripods, and this Artcise CS80C Carbon Fiber tripod is one of the nicest tripods I have ever owned. It is incredibly lightweight and sturdy. I have had no issues in putting it to good use. It simply operates as expected, and that is as good a compliment as you can give a tripod. Very stable, legs extend and collapse easily, and suffers very little flexure, even with a large payload. I will probably buy another soon. Read more

Very strong built lightweight tripod for one third the price of others on the market. I purchased it for a rifle rest and have been very impressed with how sturdy this has been. The adjustability allows me to go from standing all the way to prone with the same tripod. Read more

Works very well for a shooting tripod, supports a rifle with a total weight of 15lbs without issue. Comparable quality and rigidity to a Athlon which is triple the price. The ball head is the weak point of this package but can be expected with its price. Has supported everything I have put on it without slipping but really needs to be cranked down with heavier rifles. I am 6’2 and with the tripod fully extended the rifle come to the top of my head, also makes a very sturdy platform for shooting prone or seated from a bench. If you are looking for a budget tripod to hunt/ shoot off of this is it, I am happy with my purchase and will probably buy another. Read more

Overall impression is very good. Legs are very stout, feels very sturdy and the twist locks work well. Extended out fully it's very tall, nearly 6'. Have a gimbal head attached, plenty of surface area on the mounting surface of the tripod. Holding a Canon R7 w/ 200-800mm lens and is rock solid, much better then my previous carbon tripod. Weight is good for the size, not to heavy. Carrying bag is nice but will not fit back in it with my gimbal but that's ok. Compared to some friends Manfrotto tripods, this one gives them a very good run for their money. The phone holder is fine, something I'll never use. Incase you need to know, the 'ultra' or 'max' series phones in a case won't fit into the holder, they are too wide. The weight pouches seems constructed well, with solid mounting system, we will see if I need to use it. Read more

This is a review of Compact Carbon Fiber Tripod with Stone Bag ARTCISE CT80C Heavy Duty Travel Camera Stand for Canon Sony Nikon DSLR Camcorder,Max Load 55lbs(Extra Gift:Stone Bag,CNC Magic arm, CNC Phone Clip) This tripod is very good. It is fairly light in weight and I love how easy it is to adjust the legs. I prefer this method of loosening and tightening the legs. The tripod comes with tips to put on the legs for certain types of terrain where tips are preferred. My only oversight was not realizing that this tripod does not have a center column. That is a major bummer for me since I do a lot of product photography and having the ability to quickly raise or lower my camera is important. So for now I use this for travel. Quality of this is high. Good value. I paired this with an Artcise NB34 ball head. Read more

This must be an older or discounted model, the new version has a few differences like 10x carbon fiber layers vs 8. But for this price I can forego 2 extra layers. It's solid and works very well, plenty of height. Read more

I use this tripod for photography. It's very solid, lightweight, and well-made. I have other tripods that I use and they are adequate. It comes with a stone bag that is handy for storing things on my shoots. The other accessories that come with it, I haven't used. Right now, this is selling for $145. I think this is a bargain and well worth it. Read more
