Long story short, I bought this because a couple of years back my brought bought me the entire X Files on DVD. Except I'm in the USA and he bought the European version online by accident. I guess they don't play on regular US DVD players. Well, this works perfectly and it's a great value for the price! It's compact and fits where the VHS player was, it's a quick setup and great sound quality on our widescreen TV. Plus it comes with a remote AND batteries too! No need to go shopping for more! EDIT: I hate to return things, so I decided to try it on my other TV (a VIZIO) and it worked. Then I was able to get into the setup, and there I found that the video was set to PAL (Europe) and not NTCS (America). I switched it to NTSC and 1080p, turned it off, turned it back on and verified the settings were still there, then I turned it off and plugged it into my 1080p Samsung SmartTV again, and it worked! It looks pretty nice now. I'm keeping it. :-) It seems like this OakCastle DVD-100 DVD player is working because I can hear the movie soundtrack, but the video is not coming through. I am getting the following error on my 1080p Samsung smart TV: “Mode Not Supported. The resolution is not supported on this TV, please change the resolution.” However, because I cannot get into the setup to try to change any settings, I cannot use this and I am stuck. I bought the Oakcaslke DVD100 in August 2025. It worked well when paired with a smart TV. However, three months later when I unplugged the device and then reconnected it with the same TV, the DVD player did not turn on. I contacted Oakcastle customer support, informed them of the issue and they sent a power adapter. The power adapter worked when tested with other devices but the DVD100 would not turn on when using this same adapter. Oakcastle refused to offer any additional support. Read more

I like it. It has a remote of course but better yet it has controls on the front in of the unit also. It is nice and small but shows the DVD in good quality. It also comes with all the cords you need. The HDMI, and three audio, (2) and video, (1) cords. Good job Amazon Read more

Super happy with this regular DVD player ! Someone kindly gave us some dvd's for Christmas and we realized that our old one ( 15 yrs old) had stopped working. We do not have any Blu ray disc's so this was exactly what we needed. It hooked up to a very old smart LG TV with the included hdmi wire. Worked with no issues and was very intuitive to use, wish I could say the same for the stupid LG remote and screen interface. Now I have an excuse to buy a set of the Jurassic Park movies : ) Shipping was fast considering we live in Maine and there is no next day or even two day shipping up here in our area. Read more
