I really like these bamboo compostable bags. They are very strong and think they are well priced Read more
We love these as an anti-plastic effort. None have torn in over a year of use. Don’t let liquid sit in them for days, but hasn’t been a problem. Read more
Our city recently enacted a law that all discarded compostable food items be put into the same bins as our yard waste. I was saving used frozen vegetable bags and collecting the food items throughout the week, and putting them in the freezer until trash day. No way I was going to put the food directly into the bin and let it sit outside throughout the week! This would create a smelly container that needed to be cleaned often, and that would for sure attract critters searching for food. One problem with above is that the used vegetable bags are plastic and NOT compostable/recyclable, so using small compostable bags like this and adding items throughout the week while keeping it in the freezer, then throwing the entire bag in the bin on pick up day was an ideal solution. I really like the 1 gallon size. They do rip easier than plastic but that's to be expected. It doesn't take much effort to handle in a way that they don't tear, but be aware if anything with sharper edges is put in or if you push something in with some force it may tear. With this brand, you can convert the cardboard box they come in into a dispenser (and even hang it if you want). This is a nice feature that I use, but took at bit to follow the instructions to figure it out. Once you do I think you'll like using this feature. The price seemed reasonable and this pack should last me about 4 months at one per week (125 total). Read more

They work great and last a while before starting to break down. Read more
So I decided to empty and use my compost after more than a year. I have a black rotary composter that is in the sun several hours a day, and I am in zone 8a- so the composter gets heated up pretty well (and again has gone through a full hot summer and then some). Upon emptying it I noticed the compost bags were largely intact and seemed sturdy. I then proceeded to manually sift and empty any bags I found... There were a lot. See the pictures showing some of the bags in the compost bags in the compost, and the pile of emptied compost bags. Maybe these break down in an industrial compost environment, but it seemed none of them decomposed in a home composter. On the plus side, since they don't break down, these bags do not get weepy when collecting compost over a few days in the house... *Edit* - the description for this does say these bags are designed to be compostable in a municipal industrial composter with controlled conditions. So maybe my disappointment is my own fault for not reading (assuming the description was the same back when I initially purchased a year ago). Read more
