Scout Jacket but thrifty and less scratchy.
Nice and heavy. Very soft. I purchased this as a substitute for the official Scouting America red wool jacket that so many old leaders wear. It fits my son perfectly, and the cost is more appropriate for something he will outgrow. The red-orange color is lighter than the almost crimson red of a new official wool one. However, it looks similar to the vintage ones that have faded a little. I sewed the jacket emblem from the scout shop on the pocket for him. There is no official regulations on outwear, so you can wear whatever is necessary over the uniform. I think this is a very thrifty, weather appropriate option for kids who will outgrow several of them as scouts. It also looks way better than a hoodie or his school coat along with his uniform.
